Introduction
Human resource management is an important factor that helps in the development of
the organisation with the development of the employees. The HR manager ensures that every
employee in the organisation must have equal rights that will help in the establishment of a
fair workplace. The organisation chosen here is Walmart’s. It is one of the successfully
running retail organisations since 1962 (www.walmart.com, 2020). The paper is intended to
understand the amendment that has taken place in Bill 17, which has been amended for the
betterment of the employees of Walmart’s (Bratton & Gold, 2017). By the end of the paper,
the student will be aware of the role of human resource in the organisation.
Research
The bill 17 is also known as the Fair and Family-Friendly has been passed by Alberta
Legislature that has been implemented on January 2018. It deals with the employees and the
employees and the labour are not a part of the bill (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart & Wright,
2017). Bill 17 establishes various laws that will help in the improvement of the working of
the employees in an organisation. The various organisation has been imposing various duties
on the employees without providing them with overtimes or incentives. Employment
standards have been developed to help the employees understand their rights and ensure that
the organisation does not exploit their skills. According to Bill 17, employees will be eligible
for all kins of leave after attainment of 90 days in the organisation, and there can be no
deduction imposed on the employee. There will be maternity as well as care leaves provided
by the organisation to the employee. Peacock, Belcourt & Stewart, have explained in their
book that the employees must be provided with 30 minutes break after every 5 hours of work.
The compressed work weeks is the agreement wherein the employees and employer
will make a decision based on the majority of the period of the working hour based on which
