Objective: Performance management is being considered as a
need of the hour by most of the human resource managers. The
objective behind this literature view is to gain a deeper insight into
the concept of performance management systems and conclude
whether they actually add value to an organisation or not.
Method – A thorough review of the literature has been used to
gather data for research. For making the data more accurate and
reliable, a great stress has been laid on selecting contemporary
articles (published in the past five years) for review. To validate the
information in the literature, a number of websites have also been
consulted.

contribute towards the success of an
organisation. The method selected for the

performance)

Argument - This paper informs us about the debate that has been going on between
existing performance management and human resource management literature
about the contributions that each of them makes towards the success of an
organisation. According the the researchers of this paper, performance that the
employees demonstrate in a company is a result of their level of engagement in their
jobs (Anitha, 2014). The paper also says that performance management is a
system which can act as a channel for those employees who want to perform and
contribute more towards the success of an organisation.
Conclusion - The paper discusses a lot of details on the topic of human resource
management and performance management. The paper also talks about the
importance of employee engagement and how performance management can help
in engaging employees. The paper says that it is important for business
organisations to treat performance management as a system that can help them in
keeping their workforce engaged, which would ultimately lead to higher
performance levels amongst individuals.
