to support the individual. At St James Hospital the role are assigned as per their skills and

Work role – It means role of an individual in the organization. In Regents ward there are
two types of work roles i.e. nurses and health care assistants. Nurses carry out care of the
patients who have undergone surgical procedures and health care assistants takes care of
patient's daily needs.
Team work – Team work is a process of working collaboratively with a bunch of people
in order to achieve common goal. Regent’s ward is divided into different teams and each
team comprises of nurses and health care assistants (Day, 2006).
Working in a team will lead to unequal participation of every team member.

4.3 Analysis of own role for minimizing the barriers for effective teamwork in HSC practice
In the context of health and social care, team work is addressed that team work plays important
role for increasing the effectiveness of treatment procedures. But, there are various barriers
addressed by team members while handling different group tasks with an appropriate manner. It
includes major barriers related to improper communication, poor coordination, conflicts among
team members, Lack of decision making ability, Lack of disciplinary and loyalty to the team and
etc (Munn-Giddings and Winter, 2013). In order to minimize the barriers to effective team, some
important strategies are used by health and social care firm that are mentioned below:
By conducting a proper discussion among team member, team leader is able resolve
different issues associate with team management.
By building positive relationship, trust and honesty among team member with health and

Work role – It means role of an individual in the organization. In Regents ward there are
two types of work roles i.e. nurses and health care assistants. Nurses carry out care of the
patients who have undergone surgical procedures and health care assistants takes care of
patient's daily needs.
Team work – Team work is a process of working collaboratively with a bunch of people
in order to achieve common goal. Regent’s ward is divided into different teams and each
team comprises of nurses and health care assistants (Day, 2006).
Working in a team will lead to unequal participation of every team member.
Needs and expectations of clients -
There should be an ideal ratio between nurses and patients.
The environment of the Regents ward should be clean and silent.
The first priority of any patient is his safety. So proper measures of safety is to be
employed (Belbin, 2012).
Objective of any team is to maximize its output without reducing its quality. So teams of
regent’s ward should try to provide health care services to maximum available patients without
reducing the quality of their services. Team performance can be improved by acquiring certain
skills like effective communication, time management and collaboration. By supporting other

minimising the barrier associated with lack of understanding about team operations.
By ensuring accountability of team with the help of strong management guidelines,
policy and regulations, medical practitioner is able to remove issues within team
management (Stoll and et.al, 2006).
The development of proactive interpersonal relationship by establishing the effective
communication among different individuals associated with particular team is playing
important role in order to influence overall productivity of team.
4.4 Improvement of the personal contributions to the collective effectiveness of a team
In order to improve personal contributions to effectiveness of team, I need to carry out
detail evaluation of skills for identification of weakness as the requirement of team work.
As the individual, I faced significant issues in identification creative tactics for handling
treatment procedures therefore I need to create different innovative approach to manage
different job operations.
Improvement in the communication skill plays important role to increase my inter
reaction with other team members (Lee and Chang, 2008).
Learning of new technology such as computer networking system, internet and email will
be found very effective to improve my performance during team work.
By maintaining the self-managed learning process, I could increase effectiveness of team
operations with my active participation and new skills.
CONCLUSION
From this report it can personal values, attitude and beliefs are the essential aspects which
help in determination of the various skills in order to complete the entire functioning and provide
best services to the patients. It adopt the proper promotion and the supportive activities which
help in effective development of the individual in the personal and professional context. The
concept of working in team is very supportive in context of the health and social care as it
provide the proper resources in order to satisfy the wants and the needs of the patients. It helps in
the effective and efficient implication of the different aspects as per the need specification of the
patients and it will result providing fast services.
