Question 1s
Carl is not getting the needed attention. It was only on the first day that Carl had an
opportunity to interact and engage her colleagues at work; she got attended to on the first day.
The rest of the days Carl would come and sit alone at the front desk having no one to talk to
except the clients who were making it even worse. The lack of attention makes Carl feel low and
causes her self-esteem to go down yet there was nothing she would do except get home and get
herself a bottle of wine to forget anything or frustration at work. The other need that Carl lacks is
personal time. Lacking personal time means you are overloaded with work and tasks in the
workplace such that you cannot afford to get time for yourself in doing something different from
the work activities. This could probably cause rise in stress levels. According to Kendrick &
Kendrick (2016) lack of personal time is the root cause of stress levels and time wastage. As
much as Carl wanted to help people and enjoy the job she had been longing for- sitting the front
desk, she would not enjoy the job because of the huge work load. Considering that she was still
fresh, there was nothing she would do concerning the delegated duties by other staff members. It
is most probable that they were taking her for advantage. This much workload would relentlessly
cause her to regret why she chose the job but the fact remains that she would have loved to work
at the front desk and any other activity if she got personal space.
Question 2
Interference with the needs causes a whole mess in Carl’s life within that period that
she worked at the clinic. Interfering with those needs that she considered necessary caused her to
start developing stress and related health problems. Work frustrations would most often make her
think so much on why she cannot do the way she desired before or how Daniel expected of her.
It is possible that she wished she could reverse the situation but that would pose two opposing

sides. Her whole mental, physical and psychological wellbeing were affected such that the only
easy remedy would be to look out for anything that would temporarily help her cope up with the
state. She would take a bottle or two of wine every day when she comes back from work. The
essence was to try relieving stress and forget everything and anything to do with the clinic. She
felt when she does that it would do fair to her condition at hand. Funny enough, her deteriorated
wellbeing was evident in the tasks she was assigned to do; it was very evident that out of her
performance there was something wrong that even Daniel himself was too slow to recognize.
The deteriorated state in her wellbeing led to underperforming in her daily activates that were
assigned to her. This is very normal. For this reason, she would find out that she has a lot of time
but she only does little because her wellbeing has been interfered with. Iglesias et al. (2015)
notes that stress management and time management are all related as it is evident in Carl’s case
study.
Question 3
Yes, time management is very essential aspect among all the staff in the small health
facility. This evident among all the staff members, Carl and even Daniel himself. It is
unfortunate that Daniel himself as a mentor is not quick to note that things don’t just happen. It
all starts and stems from a very critical point of understanding. Daniel could probably change the
strategy of doing things so that he would work with Carl first as she cope up with the roles in the
clinic. Daniel should stop complaining and blaming Carl for the unfinished tasks yet he has not
taken a step to coach her but most importantly to listen to her and understand her beyond her
physical appearance. By doing that, time won’t be an issue. Carl on the other side should find out
a way to solve the stress levels since stress and time management are interconnected high level
of stress causes wastage of time and significantly reduces performance. No wonder Carl would

try as much to come early and leave late but nothing seemed like happening. The staff members
should ensure that they don’t only delegate work activities to one individual. Work should be
evenly distributing across the spectrum so that average workload is reduced.
