Homework Assignment
AI Summary
This psychology assignment examines the concept of bio-reactions in humans, which are physiological responses to stimuli such as fear or strong emotions. The student analyzes three personal experiences: preparing for an interview, meeting a stranger, and encountering a thief. The assignment explores the specific bio-reactions experienced (appeasing, freezing, and fight), the environmental factors present, and the body's emotional responses in each situation. The student reflects on the importance of understanding bio-reactions for managing and adapting to stressful situations. The paper references relevant psychological studies and concepts to support the analysis, offering a comprehensive understanding of how individuals react to various challenges and the significance of self-awareness in these responses.

OBSERVING BIO-REACTION IN HUMAN
Part A
A bio-reaction is a signal that a brain receives and responds to either fear or strong
emotions and can be referred as stimulus and it causes respond in organ cell as a result of the
occurrence, situation or events, Bio-reaction brings rapid changes in the body of a human and
living organism. Humans evolved to fight or freeze response to alert us to danger, anxiety and
stressful situation through the physical response varies (Anderson et al, 2008). There are some
situations in which an individual can experience a bio-reaction. The situation which I have
experienced in a bio-reaction is, preparation for an interview, preparing to meet a strange person
whom we had met in a social media and the other situation was when I encountered thieves. The
bio-reactions encountered in situations I have experienced may be flight, freeze, fight, or
appease. This paper aims at giving the answers to the question below based on the situations I
have experienced in a bio-reaction.
Question 1: Identify which bio-reaction you were experiencing in each situation from part
A
On the first situation is where I was preparing to go for an interview. In this situation,
many people experience some form of bio-reaction since they do not know the kind of question
they are going to be asked. Before entering that interview room, I was feeling a lot of fear as I
did know whether I will answer the questions correctly and get the job or not. I was feeling like
freezing but I had to give myself confidence that I can do it. Therefore, I reacted on a bio-
reaction of appeasing hence calming down to adapt to the situation. The other situation is when I
was going to meet a friend who was a total stranger whom we had known each other on the
social media. Therefore, the question was, “how the person will take me?” “Will I be attractive

to the person?” these questions running on my mind almost made me run due to fear of being
rejected. Therefore, I was feeling a bio-reaction experience of freezing. The last situation I had
experienced is my encounter with a thief. At this situation, I felt a bio-reaction in my mind which
made me ready to fight with this person who wanted to steal my properties. Therefore, we fought
for a long period for I had confidence that the person cannot just take my properties and go
without my reaction.
Question 2: Describe what was happening in the environment around each identified bio-
reaction.
There are many things which happen in the environment an individual is, in bio-reaction
situations (Lim et al, 2008). First, as I was when was preparing for an interview, the feeling of
freezing up was covering the whole body and the environment was not conducive. During this
time, the heart was pumping more rapidly and the sweat was flowing from the armpits. The
other situation of meeting a stranger I was feeling that the hair had erected and also the heart was
pumping as I was about to meet with the person. The other situation in which I encountered with
a thief, I was feeling a strong heartbeat over my body and the coldness was being felt flowing
from the blood vessels in preparation of danger. Therefore, there must be something happening
in the environment in which a bio-reaction is experienced.
Question 3: Describe how your body reacted and what emotion you felt during each of the
identified bio-reactions.
The body of a normal individual must react when he or she encounters a certain situation.
When I was preparing to go for an interview, my body initially reacted with a certain fear of

what will happen in the interview room but later, my body calmed down and I was able to
confidently answer the questions in the interview room. In the other situation when I was
meeting a stranger, my body reacted with anxiety for I didn't know how the person will say about
me. Therefore, I was feeling a lot of anxiety in my body. Moreover, in the situation when I had a
fight with a thief who was trying to steal my properties, my body reacted and the hormones were
aroused and I felt that I was ready to battle with the person and overcome him. Therefore, it is
evident that a body of a normal person must react either positively or negatively after
encountering certain situations.
Question 4: Explain why it is important to be aware of your bio-reactions.
It is very important for every person to be aware of his or her bio-reactions so as to know
how to deal with them. Understanding a bio-reaction situation such as fight helps an individual to
be careful enough when he or she has encountered certain situations by just reacting like moving
away to avoid causing problems, other people (Lim et al, 2008). Also, a bio-reaction like
freezing should be understood well to help people from running from an important issue due to
fear. Additionally, understanding a bio-reaction like appease helps the person to calm down
when he or she has encountered a certain situation (Anderson et al, 2008). It is, therefore, very
important for all people to be aware of their bio-reaction so as to be prepared enough to deal with
them when they encounter certain situations.
