Introduction:
The report discusses about the recommendations that can be adopted by the small
regional hospital so as to assist one of its employee who is suffering from illness. The employee
is a stellar employee and she is suffering from weakness in her left side along with some
lingering sight issues that cannot be resolved by the use of contact lens or glasses. The discussion
carried below helps the hospital management to determine the essential needs for helping out its
employee.
Recommended technology:
The organisation can use some technical items so as to help out its employee who is
suffering from some lingering sight and left side weakness. The hospital can purchase the
“Braille display devices”. They can also make use of the screen readers so as to help the
employee in listening the texts instead of reading the texts. The computers of the employee
should be loaded with the program of screen magnification so as to magnify the text and the
graphics that appears on the screen. Providing the employee with a seating arrangement where
she can meet the light condition that she needs. She can be provided with keyboards with large
key top labels (Houtenville & Kalargyrou, 2012). The display and the printer output can be
modified so as to help her out of the situation. By the use of computer generated symbols both
the texts and the graphics can be enlarged on the monitors and the printers so as to help her out in
performing different tasks like word processing, spreadsheet and many more. Anti-glare screen
can be used so as make the screens much easier to read. The hospital should aim at providing her
with products that provides flexibility in the positioning of monitors, keyboards, documentations,
and table tops as she is suffering from physical weakness (Funk et al., 2015).

Recommendations regarding the environment of the work place
There should be no discrimination on the basis of the weakness of the employee. Being a
part of the organisation the employee should be treated equally like the other employees. Certain
steps need to be taken so as to support the employee. The organisation should make changes in
the environment of the workplace so as to help out the employee (Hogan et al., 2012). The
employee should be given the facility of working as per her requirements that is providing her
with a flexible or modified working schedule. All the employees should understand the problems
she is facing and should help her out when ever needed. It should be made sure that she is able to
apply for any type of positions and enjoys the same perks and opportunities as she was used to
get previously. All her co-workers should take the initiative of supporting her more and more.
She should be treated equally as she was used to be treated previously before her illness (Swain
et al., 2013).
Recommendations regarding the training and the support:
The management of the business should look into the aspect of educating the employees
of the hospital about workplace discrimination. All the employees of the hospital should know
that discrimination (Pomeranz & Puhl, 2013) is illegal along with knowing what should be their
attitude towards her. Along with all this they should also encourage her. Workplace diversity
training should be conducted so as to educate all the employees in the hospital by means of class
and many more. The hospital should aim at preparing materials if they face the same situation in
future (Rice et al., 2012). As she is totally new to the situation the hospital should aim at
providing her training about the use of the new gadgets. Along with all this she should be
provided with adequate information about the items she will be using. She should be provided
with a training of orientation which means making her learn the position in where she is and

should be given the training of moving safely, efficiently and effectively while moving from one
place to another.
Conclusion:
The discussion carried above helps to conclude that the with changes in the workplace
and the working environment along with proper training of the employees the management of the
hospital will be able to create a suitable workplace for the employee with physical and visual
weakness. With adaptation of proper training methods, the hospital prepares itself to help out
more employees if they face the same problem like of now. Not only for the hospital the training
methods also helps out the employee to overcome the situation that she is facing now. By
adopting all those things discussed above the hospital will be adopt success in help out its
employees.
