INTRODUCTION
Managing company's employees such that their working capabilities can be improved is
called Human Resource Management. These activities are important for organizations to
improve organizational working and enhancing goal achieving capabilities of organization. Asda
is chosen for analysis in this report. Asda is the second largest supermarket chain of UK, it
provides many items like grocery, medicines and several electronic items. The report will
analyse the role of human resource in an organization and with that the report will also evaluate
the effects of HRM activities on organizational performance. Report will examine internal as
well as external factors which affect the decisions of HRM. With that report is going to analyse
how employee's relation with HR will affect HRM decision.
MAIN BODY
P1: Purpose of HRM
At Asda it is important that its employees are able to achieve the organizational goals and
with that Asda also have to make sure that the workforce is able implement the changes provided
by the higher authorities (Ahammad, 2017). For effectively managing these tasks human
resource management is required for managing employees in such a way that they are able to
achieve organizational goals.
Functions of Human Resource Management
Human resource management activities are very important for Asda to increase the
productivity of the organization. Following are the functions of HRM at Asda.
Recruiting new employee
It is the responsibility of the HR at Asda that they are able to recruit a right candidate for
required position. It is important because if an unworthy candidate is selected then in that
condition employee's misleading actions will affect the overall working of the department.
Changing department of employee
HRM is also responsible for changing the department of employees at Asda, this is done
for improving the employee's performance based on the skills which they are having. For

effectively changing the department of employee HR must be able to understand the working
capabilities of employee.
Providing training to employees
HRM at Asda has make sure that the workforce is trained, so employees can effectively
implement their new skills at the work area. This new working capabilities of employees will

HRM at Asda is responsible for making organizational planning such that Asda is able to
achieve its target efficiently, simultaneously plan should be flexible enough to make some
adjustments as per the changing needs (Azeem and Yasmin, 2016). This planning must be made
by considering present demands and upcoming future demands so work efficiency at Asda can
be improved with time. HRM planning is affected by internal factors as well as by external
factor. Internal factors are reasons within Asda and external factors are related to business
environment. Resourcing Asda is an important role being played by HRM of organization, here
the HRM is responsible for the management of resources at Asda, like recruiting new employees,
managing the work flow, providing training to employees, establish better communication
between departments and distributing work loads.
P 2 Strength and weakness of different HRM approaches of recruitment
Human resource management of ASDA follow the external and internal factors of
recruitment which is present. There are a lot of advantages and disadvantages which are present
in these factors as well and would be discussed in the further report.
Internal recruitment
There are a lot of rewards which are provided to the employees of ASDA in some form
or another so that the performance management of the company is going to be better. There are
promotions of the employees which is provided to them so that there is going to be self
motivation which is going to be present. There is healthier environment for the employees to
work in and they tend to give in their best.

Strength of internal recruitment
The employees will not need motivation from time to time but they will have motivation
from within to give their personal best to the organization since they need promotions and a raise
in their salary (Herrera and de las Heras-Rosas, 2020). The culture and respect for one another is
present because of this factor and making ASDA have better functioning and productivity which
is fulfilling the needs of the customers.
Weakness of internal recruitment
There is a raise in politics which can rise in the company and that would create an unhealthy
environment for the employees to work in and the best will not be given the employees. There
are going to be less ideas as well which are going to rise in the company and the creativity and

employees has to be good which helps the company to achieve all the goals and objectives they
have in the market.

The employees have to be given the right job and right practices have to be used for
recruitment so that the company will be able to benefit from it. There is a lot of training and

which is going to get in balance and better functioning for a longer run.
There are a lot of laws and implementations which the HR is currently working on so that
the company can have better systematic functioning for a long run. To make the employees have
a good satisfaction level in the organization there has to be incentives, salary, etc issues which
have to be solved on time. The decisions have to be taken on the bases of the workability of the
employees so that there is going to be good candidates which would come in the organization.

treatments at work place. To overcome such barrier at work place government has introduced the
equality act. This act played a crucial role in improving the work culture in United Kingdom.
Many female employees got promotions after this legislation.
Anti discriminations act: To remove the issue call as discrimination at work place government
has implemented the anti discrimination act at work places in United Kingdom. This act deals
with all kinds of discrimination with work force at the organisation. This act has allowed the
government to overcome discrimination on the ground of gender, age, colour and many other
factors like religious, cultural and many others (Al-Shibli and Al-Jazi, 2019). This act could
ensure the government to maintain proper culture and environment at work place. After this act
