ABSTRACT
The main purpose of the current research project is to investigate the importance of human
resource management in the enhancement of organisational growth." A study on The Piccadilly
London West End. Aim and objectives have been developed for completing the full research
project in a systematic manner. The literature review has been done by following secondary
sources, which are peer-reviewed articles, journals etc. All sources facilitated the researcher in
collecting secondary data about the topic. Research methodology following a quantitative
approach using a sample questionnaire as data collection instruments. Data analysis has been
done by using frequency distribution analysis. Conclusion and recommendations are completed
by explaining information regarding the entire activities in a short and clear manner. In order to
improve organisational growth, human resource manager should manage talented employees in
the workplace because they retain the finest or top talent at the workplace—this turn to impact on
business by improving their business growth.

Chapter 1: Introduction
Overview of the topic
Human resource management introduces the process that helps an organisation in
recruitment, selection etc., of best candidates. In this, HR is the knowledgeable and skilled
person within an organisation. The resource introduces to limited availability or scare.
Management is how to optimize as well as make effective use of such scarce or limited resources
so as to meet the goals and objectives of an organisation (Ackers, 2021). Therefore, HRM is
meant for the accurate application of an available, knowledgeable workforce as well as make
effective use of present human resource within the enterprise. There are different roles played by
human resource within a workplace, including recruitment and selection, employee relations,
employment law compliance, health and safety, staff training and development etc. All these
major roles of human resource are claimed to have potentially help an organisation in improving
its growth and success at the national and international level. Thus, the current research
examines the actual impact that HRM practices have on the organizational performance in terms
of employee retention in a hospitality organisation, Piccadilly London West End
Background of the company
The current report is based on Piccadilly London West End, which is a five-star hotel. The
hotel has a boutique bedroom and a fitness centre with free WiFi: all rooms mood lighting, and
also a luxury bathroom with free toiletries and fluffy bathrobes. The human resource of
Piccadilly London West End played various roles with the purpose of improving business
growth. These roles are acquiring accurate worker, enhance employee efficiency, enhancement
of personnel development, increase employee satisfaction, analyse future manpower needs,
reduce employee turnover, long term business growth etc. Therefore, human resource

on a personal level, this research helps the researcher by enhancing their research skills, i.e. time
management, communication, data collection etc. With the help of these skills, the researcher
can easily do current and further investigation in a systematic manner. At the professional level,
this investigation helps in searching for the best job at human resource post in the hospitality
industry. Therefore, current research is highly important at the personal and professional level.
Therefore, the current research project is important at the personal and professional level by
increasing knowledge about the role of human resource in retaining employees and improving
business performance.

This research has wide scope because for collecting information about the topic, both
qualitative and quantitative research is used by researcher. This research also has wide scope
because it is time effective. Along with this, current research also has wide scope because it
helps an individual, organisation or industry by providing accurate information about the HR
practices and its significance in reducing of high employee turnover within a workplace.

Approach and methodology
For carrying out the current investigation, quantitative research, deductive approach,
pragmatism philosophy, questionnaire etc., methodologies and approaches are being used for
gathering accurate information about the topic (Waples and Brock Baskin, 2021). The
quantitative and deductive approach is used for collecting and analysing information in a
numerical manner.
Chapter Preview
There are different chapters that will be essential in the completion of the current project
effectively. These chapters will be explained as below:
Chapter two is the literature review: This is based on secondary data that is gathered from
books, articles, journals, and many other secondary sources relevant to the title.
Chapter three Research methodology explains the different types of methodologies that help
the investigator in the achievement of research aim and objectives successfully.
The Analysis and findings are the fourth chapters that help the investigator in the evaluation
of gathered information from analytical research technique (Genty, 2021). According to the
current project, quantitative data is gathered from the questionnaire and for evaluating such type
of information, frequency distribution analysis is applied by the researcher.
The critical appraisal, Recommendations & suggestions for further work is an important chapter
that includes recommendations regarding the improvement of the topic. The conclusion is the
last chapter that includes information about the entire chapters in a clear and short manner
(Mahsood and et. al., 2020).

growth. In previous studies, there were lots of data available regarding the role of human
resource management within an organisation, but there was missing information about the
effectiveness of HRM in organisational growth. This is the main gap, and for addressing this,
research questions are used as below:

According to Chai (2020), HR practices includes recruiting, hiring, deploying and
managing employees of an organisation. The main purpose of HRM is to help an organisation in
the attainment of goals and objectives by giving and maintaining productive employees. There
are different functions of HRM such as planning, organising, directing, controlling, development,
procurement and maintenance of human resource. It is a process of managing the functions of
employing, creating and compensating the utilising HR, resulting in the development and
creation of industrial and human relations. This would shape the future practices and policies of
HRM with a purpose to contribute respectively to the individual, organisational and social goals.
On the other side, Pak and et. al. (2021), human resource management is the effective and
efficient use of HR in order to improve organisational performance and growth. This is a set of
organisational activities directed at developing, attracting and maintaining a talented workforce.
In addition, HRM is a planned and set of activities designed by a business to provide its

quantitative. These are effective within a research because it helps investigator in gathering of
qualitative as well as quantitative data (Hastuti and Timming, 2021). Therefore, quantitative
research choice assist researcher in getting reliable outcomes within the minimum period of time.
Whereas, qualitative research helps in collecting of information from books, articles etc. sources
for literature review.
Research strategy: There are various strategies of the research such as action research,
survey, case study, experimental etc. These are main strategies but for gathering data regarding

The main purpose regarding the selection of the survey as a research strategy is it provides
numerical and in-depth information about the topic.
Data collection: There are basically two important methods of data collection, i.e. primary
and secondary. Both are useful methods within an investigation because it helps in achieving

international marketplace. There are different ways used for managing the workforce as well as

SUGGESTIONS FOR FURTHER WORK
It has been determined from the primary and secondary methods of data collection that
human resource management is an important part of organisational growth and success. There
are various roles played by HRM such as planning, organising, recruitment and selection,
training and development etc. These are effective roles of human resource manager and helps
business organisation in the improvement of their growth and success. This information
identified from the secondary sources, i.e. books, articles etc. and primary method, i.e.
questionnaire. Along with this, the HR manager helps the company by reducing high employee
turnover and also assists them in increasing profitability. Therefore, both types of information
are related to each other that turn to impact the attainment of each objective successfully. There
are some recommendations to the Piccadilly London West End in the reduction of high employee
turnover and improvement of organisational growth.
Recommendations

another chance of doing further investigation. This is a recommendation for the researcher to use
the interview method as an alternative research methodology (Norani, 2021). By using this
method, the researcher becomes able to developing open-ended questions that result in the
collection of qualitative data in the minimum period of time.

From the above-mentioned information, it has been concluded that HRM in the workplace
support in improvement of business operations and growth. There are different roles of HRM
analysed from the primary and secondary method such as recruitment and selection, training and
development, talent management and performance appraisal. These roles helped an organisation
in the improvement of their organisational growth and success. There are various benefits of
having human resource management at the workplace, such as retaining top talent, improvement
of productivity and profitability and improvement of growth and success. These benefits
facilitate the company in improving its business performance.
Along with this, there is a number of ways identified that facilitate in improvement of
organisational growth, i.e. increase employee's motivation and satisfaction, retain employees for
a longer time and improve marketing strategies and tools. These are essential and important ways
that helped in the enhancement of organisational growth. There are various challenges
experienced by human resource within a workplace, such as change management, leadership
development, attracting top talent and fostering a culture of continuous learning. These are the
biggest challenges that have a negative impact on the business performance and growth of the
company. There are also various ways used for reducing employee turnover and managing the
workforce, such as providence of training and development, the increment of satisfaction and
motivation, providing monetary and non-monitory benefits. These are effective and efficient

essential and facilitates the attainment of each objective effectively and successfully.
REFLECTION
I am glad for getting a chance to conduct a research project on the role of human resource in
employee retention and organisational performance. I used different types of methodologies for
collecting information regarding the topic and meeting of research objectives. These
methodologies are positivism philosophy, deductive approach, quantitative research choice,
questionnaire and many others. All these are useful methodologies for me because, with the help
of these, I easily attained research aim and objectives. I used a questionnaire for collecting
primary and quantitative data. This helped me in the achievement of each objective in a
successful manner. By conducting this research, I improve my knowledge regarding the role of

human resource in the retention of employees and its benefits in the improvement of
organisational performance. Along with this, I faced certain challenges while carrying out this
research project. These challenges are lack of time, unethical behaviour of respondents etc.
