Human resource management encompasses ways to manage and control the human skills
and talents to make sure that they work in order to achieve the different type of organizational
goals of the company. The Human resources can be said to be the factors that any of the
organizations value the most. The absence of a proper and efficient human resource will surely
spell doom for the organization. The human resource department of the company is generally
encompassed with a lot many tasks starting from employee recruitment, employee relations,
proper internal communication, employee retention, employee compensation and other types of
benefits for the employees as such. Human resource planning is believed to be the most
important role in the department and can be explained by means of the future plans of the
organization.
My Experience in Hyperlion Company
I was an intern in Hyperlion Petroleum Corporation for 6 months and had gathered a
valuable experience in the company regarding the way the organization manages the Human
Resource of the organization. The company is Bahrain’s largest petroleum refining company and
has the largest market share. The business of the organization is also spread in most of the West
Asian countries. My first application for the intern position in the HR department was through
the online means. The management of the company has changed the structure of the company
quite frequently and thus has applied a number of different technologies in the recruitment
process. Therefore each and every person who intends to apply for a job in the company has to
use a proper online platform. The company especially the HR department has introduced the
online process to make the recruitment process much easier and ensure that the most deserving

future trend in the use of internet related activities. The company has totally discarded the
traditional recruitment process of recruiting people by transferring all recruitment related
activities to online means. Different types of researches have showed that more than 75% of the
people prefer job recruitment through online means. During the internship period I took my time
to get a look into each and every department of the Human Resource wing and was quite amazed
to notice that the company had an amazing set up and each and every single unit was totally
organized and updated. The human resource management of the organization ensured the
presence of a proper IT department within the organization to ensure the proper running of the
website and also to maintain the website in a proper way. The means of recruiting the employees
is cost effective as because it will not require the cost of the advertisements. The large scale
presence outreach of the website will also help the organization to attract more and more
potential customers to the company. The company will be able to receive a number of highly
skilled and efficient candidates who can easily fit into the different types of organizational needs.
The time when I was intern in Hyperlion I learned that the organization advocated the use
of some personal referrals during the hiring process. It entails the networking when the
individuals inform the people on different kind of related information. I also have the idea that it
is better to utilize the advantage of social media in use to ensure the success of the organization
in the market. The company also uses the social media profile to get feedbacks from the
employees to have a thorough update on the demands or any kind of problems of the employees.

Management. However in spite of the latest technological processes, the company fails to
manage the recruitment process of the employees in a fast and effective manner as the HR
department often takes more than two to three months to complete the total process of the
recruitment. This often makes the potential candidates frustrated and many of them search for
better opportunities in other petroleum companies. The main criterion for the selection process in
Hyperlion is having a thorough knowledge about refining and the processes involved in
petroleum management. During my term in the company I noticed that most of the recruitment
was conducted for petroleum engineers and different cheap skilled non-technical labors. The
company engages the different people into internal training courses of the organization. The
internal training courses help the employee to be accustomed to the culture, work style and most
importantly the work of the organization. It also helps the employees to get more skilled and
professional in order to face different challenges in the organization.
Providing compensation and benefits to the employees is another major task of the
Human Resource Department. The laws and regulations have been employed to maintain balance
and discipline within the administration of the organization. The laws employed should ensure
that the program runs smoothly by controlling the new development that may alter the benefits
program. Nowadays, it is like a culture that most organizations offer benefits to their employees.
Contrary, there are individuals who love their profession and they would not be affected if they
are not rewarded for the good work they do. Being one of the most vulnerable companies for the
people the Human Resource Department of the organization have ensured the presence of a
number of proper health and safety issues to avoid any kind of injury or fatality. I noticed that all
of us were provided with special clothes during our stay in the company and smoking was
