INTRODUCTION
Human Resource Management refers to a strategic approach which is adopted by the HR
department in order to make sure that the employees within an organization can remain satisfied
with their respective roles without problems and issues (Al-Jahwari and Budhwar, 2016). This
approach is required so that the HR department is able to ensure that the various types of goals
and objectives can be achieved in an effective manner. It is the role of the HR department to be
able to identify and solve the various types of problems and issues effectively and efficiently.
This report is based on Morrisons. It is a company which deals in various types of consumer
products and services. In this report, focus will be made on explanation of purpose and scope of
HRM, evaluation of effectiveness of its key elements. Additionally, analysis of various types of
factors will be made as a part of this assignment.
TASK 1
P1: Purpose and Functions of HRM
Overview- Morrisons is a company which deals in the retail sector and is one of the four
largest retailers in the United Kingdom. It is a company which provides quality products and
services to its customers and makes sure that they are satisfied.
Human Resource Management is a function which ensures that the different issues related to
employees are properly managed within an organization (What Is Human Resource
Management?, 2020). The HR department within a particular organization has different types of
purposes. In the context of Morrisons, the HR department has the following purpose-
Employee recognition and engagement- It means recognizing the talent of the
employees within an organization and ensuring that they are given adequate recognition
(Bondarouk, Trulle and Valverde, 2016). Also, it is the purpose of HR department and
functions to ensure that the workers are engaged in an appropriate manner.
Career development- It refers to identification of scope for the workers so that they are
able to grow further in their careers (Chowhan, Pries and Mann, 2017). In Morrisons, it is
the purpose of HR department and functions to ensure that the right opportunities are
