HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
There are few major issues and challenges that are faced by the organization and all
these have been related to the management of human resources. The company is found to be
lacking in terms of customers’ services delivery and this can be due to the lack of skills,
knowledge and experience among the employees of the organisation (Stone & Deadrick,
2015). Due to this, attraction of the right talent is a major challenge faced by the organisation
who possess the relevant skills, knowledge and expertise. It has also been found that the
newcomers are facing difficulty to embrace the changes with accuracy and this problem has
arisen due to the poor level of help and support provided by the experienced employee within
the workplace (Armstrong & Taylor, 2014). Most importantly, a major HR challenge faced
by the organisation is the absence of a corporate culture where continuous learning and
development is promoted (Walmart.ca, 2019). Due to this, there also has been poor
management of diversity within the workplace, which further resulted in various issues and
complexities for the organisation to manage the human resources properly and deliver the
right services to the customers for keeping them satisfied (Bratton & Gold, 2017). Therefore,
these are the major challenges that have been experienced by the organisation within the
competitive business environment.
Part Three: Role of HR in organisation
Walmart Canada is a major example of effective and large scale management of

practices are also associated with the corporate decision making, which also include the
staffing process and making projections of workforce in the future to meet the demands and
expectations of the business (Ulrich et al., 2013).
The HR role also include managing the wages and salaries of the employees,
furthermore, maintain the costs of compensation by making sure that it is in line with the
present financial condition and with the revenue that has been expected to achieve. At
Walmart Canada, the roles and responsibilities of HR also consists of safety and risk
management, which should be possible with the maintenance of good working conditions
achieved through accurate work logs and keeping records of the issues that might be
experienced within the workplace (Sikora & Ferris, 2014). Not only the role of HR is to
manage the recruitment and selection processes at Walmart Canada, but also to maintain
compliance with the employment laws rules and regulations (Riccucci, 2017).
Few of the challenges that could be faced include absence of a good corporate culture
and also poor level of knowledge and skills among the employees, which resulted in lack of
quality services’ delivery to the customers. With the lack of a healthy work culture, the
business might be unable to facilitate coordination at work and also the employees might face
challenges in communicating with others, which could directly affect the business
performance and also the quality of customers’ services (Mamman & Somantri, 2014). To
overcome these issues and challenges, I would like to recommend that the managers of
various departments within the workplace must attend the cultural training and then impart
knowledge and information to the employees about the importance of a good corporate
culture within the workplace.
As the HR, I would also like to ensure diversity management for the recruitment and
selection of entrepreneurial minded individuals who possess the desired amount of skills,

required to arrange training sessions by understanding the development needs of individuals
for strengthening their skills, knowledge and expertise, furthermore aim at improving the
customers’ services and resolve the issues and risks associated with the business functioning

policies, principles and practices could also be beneficial for achieving the sales goals and at
the same time, control the expenses incurred while managing recruitment and selection
processes, furthermore, ensure elimination of business risks associate with it (O'Brien &
Linehan, 2014).
Part Four: Reflection based on the interview
Based on the interview, I managed to understand about the intentions of individuals
regarding the management of human resources within the workplace. Based on the interview,
I understood the areas of weaknesses such as their lack of knowledge about the human
resource management policies, principles, employment laws, rules and practices (Walmart.ca,
2019). Due to this, their performances deteriorated and it affected the overall business
performance. Holding a good position within the organisation, I hold power and authority to
focus on the developmental needs of individuals and then arrange training programs and
coaching sessions for them to make them acknowledged and informed about the employment
practices, laws, organisational policies, principles and procedures required to facilitate the
efficiency of human resource management too. I have also learned about the different types

further helped in enhancing my own skills and progress in both personal and professional
career too.
Part Five: Final reflection
The major HR Concepts that I believe should enhance my career prospects and my
ability to attain positive outcomes in the future include the processes of recruitment and
selection, orientation of people within the workplace, management of good working
conditions, management of training and development session and programs and maintaining
good relations between the employees.
A broad knowledge and information acquisition related to the human resource
management would help me in my career, especially, the management of recruitment and
selection processes. With the management of these employment practices, I would be able to
select between a large number of people who possess the relevant skills, knowledge and
expertise. This would not only allow me sharpen my skills by assessing the individual
strengths and weaknesses, furthermore, ensure selection of the right talent at Walmart Canada
to improve the workforce efficiency.
The areas I would really like to look upon is my leadership skills. I did not perform
much as a leader till now, but I have been aiming to act as a leader as well as a motivator to
guide the employees in the right direction towards the vision and mission. As a leader, I
would also like to prioritise on keeping the workforce motivated and ensure influencing them
to perform to their potential with ease and efficiency. All these aspects of human resource
management and related information would assist me to progress in my career with ease and
efficacy.
