My uncle owns a café in town. It’s a café cum restaurant which serve fast food as well as
beverages. My uncle only manages it from the time he started it. During this time once there
was a situation when uncle was worried about the staff problem as the working staff had left
work for their personal issue. It was the critical time for my uncle as this made him very
stressed and he wanted to come out from this situation. Somehow, he managed to arrange the
staff members with in one month. At that time I was not much familiar with Human Resource
Management practices, and my uncle told me the very first time about this. But that was not
sufficient to understand the practice very well. Uncle did the staff demand analysis on their
own and selected new staff member from the industry. He made an official invitation for
interested candidates for the job and then he examined their working skills he wanted them to
have. Then, he explained to me that it is necessary to know about the job for which I want to
hire people and only after doing so I can hire the desired candidates. Then he told me that
after this I need to examine the candidates to select the right one. At that time I knew only
this about Human Resource Management, but in last class I got to know better about HRM
practices.
Relating
This incident happened last year and at that time, all I knew about Human Resource
Management was that, this practice manages the employees in an organization and maintains
their requirement practising different activities. Before this incident I was not involved in
such type of incidents. This was my first experience about human resource management
practices.

Now I know much more about Human resource management practices, with the help of last
week tutorial explanation. This tutorial made me to understand these practices with their each
and every step of practicing HRM activity. This made me to know that the HRM activities
are the key practices to ensure that the organisational goals met through effective and
efficient utilisation of human resources. These practices deal with the continuously changing
circumstance of the internal as well as the external environment of the organisation and
failure of any of these activities may cause heavy lose to the organization. While practicing
such practices managers and executive of human resource management follow a proper
process of human resource practices. In this process, they need to follow three main steps as,
labour demand forecasting, labour supply analysis, and balancing supply and demand. These
three steps cover entire process of human resource management.
Labour demand forecasting step involves estimating of the number and type of the labour
required in future. Different techniques are used in this step to forecast right number and type
of the labour requirement of the job.
Labour supply analysis determines if the labour demand is available and where or when they
can be used for efficient production of the organization. This supply of the labour may be
external or internal as per the requirements. In that case there was no internal supply,
therefore my uncle approached for external supply of the staff members for the café.
Balancing supply and demand is the management of human resources available to the
organization by utilising them in an effective and efficient way beneficial for the
organization.
This complete understanding about the practical practices of the human resource management
got only from the last week tutorial explanation. The activity of last week tutorial made me to
know about the importance and its benefits as well for an organization.

Reasoning
The incident was experiencing for me as I got to know about human resources and their
management. More important, the tutorial shown me a complete description of human
resource management and its importance. The tutorial activities have shown its practices as
well as its worthiness for any organization in terms of management and its cost efficiency
strategy implementation for organization’s benefits. It was easy to understand the evaluation
of HRM activities with the tutorial discussion. Tutorial made me able to understand the
evaluation of cost effectiveness and its role in HRM activities.
The theoretical knowledge made me able to perceive these activities in more efficient way to
make the practice effective and cost effective too. If at the time of that incident I would know
this much about the human resource management and its efficiency then in would conduct
this process for café with more efficiency. This knowledge would make to analyse the job
requirement and an effective strategy to practice the activity in proper way minimizing the
expenditures and making a productive outcome of the practice. The cost effective ness
discussed in the lecture made to realize the cost effects of on HRM practices. Tutorial lecture
discussed that HRM has to measure the economic consequences of employees for different
costs like original cost, replacement cost, opportunity cost, and economic value of the
employee. This analysis would result in much cost efficient practice at that time.
Reconstruction
This information could have reframed the previous practice by making some technical
analysis about the job requirement in the café then following a proper strategy of employee
supply with keeping in mind about the economic aspects of the process. Next time if I will
