INTRODUCTION
Human resource management is the process of hiring, recruiting, selecting and deploying
the employees of an organization. This report includes the purpose and functions of HRM that
may help Chocola Fantastica in conducting its operations efficiently. It also determines the
strengths and weaknesses of different approaches of recruitment and selection so that Chocola
Fantastica can select the best approach. This study explains the advantages and effectiveness of
various HRM practices within Microsoft for the employers as well as employees. It also
evaluates the external and internal factors that may affect the decision-making and employment
legislation in HRM of Microsoft. Apart from that this report also ascertain application of HRM
practices in Chocola Fantastica.

P1 Purpose and Functions of HRM
The main purpose of Human resource management (HRM) is to ensure availability of willing
and competent workforce in the organization. The purpose of HRM in Chocola Fantastica may
include the following:-
To assist Chocola Fantastica in acquiring the right type and number of employees at the
right time to accomplish its operational and strategic goals.
To maintain a climate in which workers or employees are motivated to utilize and
improve their skills and to employ the abilities of the workforce efficiently(Bratton and
Gold., 2017).
To increase productivity and to improve performance standards through efficient job
design, training and development and effective communication.
To maintain and establish a harmonious employee and employer relationship.
Functions of HRM:-The main functions of HRM that will help Chocola Fantastica to perform
its operations efficiently include the following:-
Planning:-The human resource planning refers to a procedure through it is ensured that
the appropriate number of employees are hired at the right time and at the right place. So
it is a continuous process in which modifications and adjustments are constantly made
according to the requirements and changing circumstance in the organization. For
example: in the situation of unemployment manager have to do make proper planning for

recruiting and training for employee in order to reduce unemployment situation form
Chocola Fantastica.
Recruitment:-It is one of the important function of HRM. This function is performed
through selecting right employees and suitable professionals to satisfy employment
needs, selecting, recruiting and providing training to the employees(Cascio., 2015). In
this function it is also make sure that employees can provide better performance and
handle the performance issues. So this function include ensuring management and
workforce practices. For example: company has follow best recruitment process for
hiring best candidate for company in order to achieve goals and objectives of company in
proper manner.
Training and development:-Training is an important function of HRM as this is
required by newly joined and hired employees, supervisors and managers to tackle
employee relation matters at the department level. This will help in improving the skills
and abilities of employees and through training they will become efficient in their work.
For example: company manager is use on the job training method in order to train their
employee for making innovative fruit taste of chocolate for attracting more customers.
Job Design:-The main task of this function is to gather information in an organized
manner and measure human requirements of jobs. This analysis is performed on the basis
of operations or activities of people during the job.
So if Chocola Fantastica will perform the functions of HRM efficiently then it will help in
improving its performance and accomplishing its goals and objectives like if Chocola Fantastica
will conduct training and development programmes in the premise then it will help the

job requirements or vacancy from within its current or existing workforce. Internal
recruitment can be done performed through transfers or promotions.
Strengths:-This recruitment approach is cost effective and it can enhance the
employee moral. It can help Chocola Fantastica to retain top talent and decrease
employee turnover. It also motivates the employees to work hard and to perform

Weaknesses:-However this process also have various weaknesses as it rarely
provides the whole picture. The second drawback is that sometimes the applicants
may not be honest. Some tests can be ambiguous which may impact the results in
the future. So Chocola Fantastica is need to conduct this function carefully. To

This practical thinking of organization refers a more strategic view towards the growth of human
resource practices in the world's leading organization.
This benefited to employer because they do not need to hire employees from outside as
they get employees within the organization(Vanhala and Ritala, 2016). They do not require
provide training from zero level because at some levels are well-known with the working of
organization. They can applicable in better way the theories of education in learning things
actually applicable in the organization. it made organization more productive in respect of
performance by new employees in comparison to existing employees. They also contribute in
