INTRODUCTION
Human resource management is managing resources and people in the firm. All
employees are motivated and are given training,compensation so that they can perform better.
Thus they can achieve their objectives and can give good results. Hence firm can run smoothly
and successfully. Report discusses about Sainsbury's company which is a retail firm. It is
founded in 1869(Hendry, 2012). It sells products such as books,hardware's,consumer
electronics,dry goods etc. Assignment explains about the purpose and functions of human
resource's management applicable to workforce,strengths and weakness of recruitment and
selection approach,benefits of personnel practices for employer and employee. Project discusses
about effectiveness of human practices which increases profits, productivity,importance of
employee relations which impact personnel management decisions,key legislations which
influences human resource management decisions and use of personnel practices in work using
different examples.

There are different purpose and functions of human resource management5 Major
(Functions of Human Resource Management, 2017). Aim of personnel management of
Sainsbury's company are-
Planning workforce – In this number of staff members are determined by human
resource manager of firm. They create plans an policies to recruit and selects employees. They
receive applications of various workers and choose them according to required qualification.
Manager also provides according to needs of staff members. It is done so that employees can
