INTRODUCTION
Human resource define those person who develop workforce of an organisation and HR
manager of enterprise also play an important role in the company. Human resource department is
that division where all the major activities and functions are perform which are totally related to
employees wages, timing, working hours and many other. This is necessary that each factor
which perform different activities are done in effective manner so that they can help in gaining
growth and development to the organisation (Agrawal, Khatri and Srinivasan, 2012). This report
is based on Sainsbury plc which is second largest chain of super market and they are mainly
provides grocery items which is situated in United kingdom. An enterprise are founded in 1869
by John James Sainsbury and now in these days, they are became biggest retailing company in
1922. The main motive of this project is used different approaches which are related with human
resource development and also understand managing equity and diversity of firm in the work
place.
1 Examine the organisation approach to human resource development
Human resource development approach define that framework of an organisation which
help in providing opportunities to employees and also assist in creating new skills that includes
personal, knowledge, abilities and capabilities. Sainsbury's organisation use effective approach
that are related to workers who working at workplace within an enterprise. The major aim of this
company manager is to develop that location where each person has like to do work. Firms
managers do different efforts to improving and motivating employees for providing quality
goods and services to their potential customers. An organisation will encourage their employees
for take part in decision making process of firm and also invest correct fund for conducting
training and development programs activities (Batt and Colvin, 2011). Company desire to
became that one in which they fully observe and measure changes of their employees to satisfy
the necessary need of their target customers. For making workplace positive, it is necessary for
manager is to listen their colleagues and take various views and reviews by which they can feel
encouraged and also contribute profitability in firm activities.
The one of the major aspect of human resource approach in the enterprise are that firm
provide various advantages to its employees such as bonus, incentives pensions etc. The main
duty of manager is to make effective strategies and policies that are related to human resource
management which help in motivating employees and gives them an opportunities for increasing

satisfy employees for achieving desired goals and objectives in proper manner. Colleagues
reward is that factor which company use to evaluate its major success and growth. In the last
year of 2015-16 organisation offer £6.33 per hour which was 2.2% that are above the national
absolute earnings (Cunningham, 2010). Along with this, there are different efforts which can do
for treating customers in several manner. An organisation support different policies and plans
which are made by authorities relates to employees that includes equal pay act and some other. It
is one of the necessary features of Sainsbury's is to listen their colleagues issues and problems
and use tools or techniques for managing better work. It is necessary for the firm is to do
different survey that reveal more than 60% of company's colleagues point of view for know that
Sainsbury's is good place for work.
Employees skills will play an essential role in an enterprise and they are those person
who implement different operations of business that assist in attaining desired goals and targets.
Effective skills and capabilities of workers aid them for getting competitive advantage and gives
several long term benefits to the company (Guest, 2011). The major feature of human resource
approach of firm is that organisation will conduct training and development sessions for their
employees on the regular basis.
The main feature of this is that it is provide a chance to organization is to learn new
knowledge and skills which assist them in offering quality based products to their customers and

ensures that goods deliver to the final user in appropriate manner. These factors will help
company for satisfy its needs and demands and retain them for long time period.

shortlist the talented candidates and analyse those candidates who have required ability and
capability with the job profile. After completion of these two stages, interview should be taken
by manager and ask them various question by observing candidate. At last they select best
suitable employee who will fulfils all the requirements of the company.

employee performance by changing their attitude, skill, knowledge and behaviour. There are

employees moral reduces and productivity also. So that it is necessary for the firm is to remove
all these barriers from workplace and motivate employee for doing their best work and reach the
company targets and goals. Both the approaches such as human resource management approach
and equity and diversity approach ensures that effective execution of business strategies help in
increasing growth and development of an organization. By this enterprise can earn maximum
profit compare with their competitors.
