Humanities in our Everyday life in Canada 2
The value of humanity in our everyday life is so demanding, In Canada more than 54
percent University students in the year 2005 got a chance to register for humanities and social
sciences courses. However, in the year 2015, there was a reduction to 50 percent, the demand for
humanity courses had decreased. In today society most students believe in practical value such as
the sciences, engineering, mathematics, and technology. The degree in sociology is less
considered in society today. Most of the Universities in Canada find it challenging to control
arguments between conflicting and opposing ideologies. The real world has also been the main
problem to support humanities because students believe if you want to get a job in today’s era
then, one needs to evade anything ending with “ology.” According to the Gabriel Miller, who is
the executive director in the field of Humanities and social sciences, insists that there is a
negative perception on humanities subject and yet the future of our great people depends on it
(Huot, 2015).
The field of Humanities does provide better salaries in the market. Most students in Canada
do practical subjects believing that they will get better wages. The research from ‘the University
of Ottawa’s Policy Research Initiative’ shows that most graduates get employment just after
school; they moreover, their income does increase from time to time. The research study states
that most salaries had an average range of up to $57000 and $62000 in less than eight years. The
evidence shows that the value of humanity in the market is high because most graduates get jobs
immediately after studies. In today’s society, the perception of life is different because it is an era
where knowledge is money (Taber, 2015). We can trade humanities and social sciences when the
experience gets devalued. Humanities help students with critical thinking and the skill to weave
different strands of data into a clear whole. Humanities help us understand the society we live in,
the significance of various aspects of life. During an argument, an individual with humanity

skills will be able to control the situation because they can understand the nature of society.
Humanities not only help us with our social life but also, natures our mind to see things
differently (Berg, 2016).
Human experience and academic disciplines can be understood and interpreted using
humanities courses. The culture of people, communication of the present happenings and the past
helps us to know how to live with one another. The Humanities incorporate with different
subjects, such as the literature, performing arts and media studies which is a piece of evidence
that Humanities matter a lot. In Canada we need more enrolment Humanities because it does
enhance democracy in the country, professionals who study can easily shape the economy of a
country due to their better understanding of the needs of the society (Duncan, 2016). Different
initiations have been started to advice most of the students in Canada to take on Humanities
subjects to allow them to gain skillful and critical reading habits. Our everyday lives relate to
how to weigh different situations because each question has to answer the’ why’ question. Most
humanities individuals get built on a spiritual and moral sense of the world. Individuals live
better lives which reduce crime rate; therefore, enhancing peace in the society.
