1.0 Introduction:
Employees are the main pillars of an organisation and they drive performance of any
organisation. If they are efficient, the company will run efficiently and if they are inefficient
company will lose its business. This also depends on the type of the business. in case of the
hotel business, front staffs have a good control over the performance and reputation of the
hotel as they are the one who interact with the customers of the hotel. This paper focuses on
the management of the human resources by shading lights on how the company will
undertake the change management process in order to invade the markets of the other
countries. The paper highlights a memo presenting the issues of the company along with the
job advertisement for the requirement of a hotel manager for the location of the UK. lastly,
the paper summarises with a discussion which is aimed at the investors, objective of which is
to make them understand about the change management process and seek investment for the
future expansion.
2.0 Task 1:
a. Memorandum
Company name: Huntsman Hotel plc
Change is the process to modify the internal systems in order to cope with the external
situation of the business. Change management process helps the organisation to mitigate the
challenges currently faced by the Huntsman Hotel plc. The process involves all the
stakeholders to change the way they behave and interact within the organisation.
Consequently there is also chance of facing restriction from the side of the employees.
Like all the other businesses in the economy, Huntsman Hotel plc is facing lot of the
challenges in the business. However, most of the challenge stems from the fact that, the
company has a low level of human resource management. This not only creating problem for
the existing staffs of the hotel but also affecting the quality of the service provided to the
customers. Therefore the issues of the hotel need to be addressed and mitigated for the
betterment of the performance of the hotel.
One of the crucial issues of the hotel is that the managers of the company have inadequate
skills when it comes to managing the employees of the organisation. Consequently, the front
staffs of the hotel are not properly guided for the delivery of the services to the customers. In

turn, this is affecting the quality of the service. Therefore, there is a need for the human
resource department to change and update the skill set of the managers. According to Shields
et al. (2015), in the hotel business an efferent manager can earn a good reputation of the
company. This in turn may result in a good performance of the hotel. This change will also
help the mangers to acquire new skill sets related to the managing hotels. Indirectly, this
change management process of the company will also fulfil the objective of the company to
get each of the employees’ potential level of performance for the organisation. In order to
mitigate this challenge of the company, the management can put the managers through
training processes to enhance their skills of human management.
Furthermore, the company is also facing the challenges in terms of inactivity of the top
managers. As per the case of the company, the top managers are mainly inactive and hence
front staffs are the one who takes the daily decisions. As a result any kind of mistakes make
the front staffs liable and hence the front staffs get de motivated due to the rude behaviour of
the managers. Fan et al. (2016) stated that decrease in the motivation of the employees is
more harmful than it seems. It directly affects the financial performance of the hotel as in the
hotel business, front staffs are the employees who come in contact with the customers of the
business. Therefore the management needs to undertake change management process to
compel the managers to take active part in the operation of the hotel. The management of the
company can undertake a decision to change the organisation structure of the company. Pant
(2015) highlighted that, organisation structure ensures that all the decisions of the company is
taken in a systematic way, the important ones are taken by the upper position of the
hierarchy. Therefore there is a need for the company to undertake a change management
process to modify the organisation structure of the company.
Last and the most important issue related to the company is the wage structure of the
company. In fact, the hotel company does not have any fixed and feasible wage structure for
the employees including the managers. The company takes the decision to increase the pays
of the employees depending on the situation such as when the employees are leaving and
many more. Employees also allege that, the management of the hotel engages itself in
partiality and favours the top managers especially the one who is close to the owner, in terms
of pay. Consequently, the employees remain confused related to the pay they receive. Jackson
et al. (2014), noted that the pay of the employee hugely affects the motivation which in turn
affects the performance of the overall organisation. Therefore, there is a need for the change
management to install a systematic wage structure which is transparent and glitch free.

will be working as a representative of the management team of the hotel. Thus the added reasonability of the hotel manger is to deal with the
restriction from the staffs of the hotel.
