coronary artery disease
 The main issue in Crydon
is that many people have
hypertension, however
they are yet to be
diagnosed
 Cryodon had a 12.2%
prevalence rate of
hypertension in 2015-2016
and it is the highest rate in
London (Cryodon Health
and Well-Being Board
2018).

AND ETHNICITY IN CRYODON:
 Croydon is an outer London
borough with an area of 87
square kilometres.
 It has the second highest
overall population compared to
other London Boroughs
 It has some very deprived
areas like Fieldway and New
Addington
 It is also the region with the
highest proportion of black and
minority ethnic groups (Director
of Public Health Report 2017)
 The level of diversity in terms
of ethnic majority is increasing
in Cryodon (Cryodon Health

PROPOSAL TO REDUCE HIGH LEVEL OF
BLOOD PRESSURE:
 As racial differences and social deprivation
are the major risk factors of hypertension,
prioritizing public health strategies that works
to address this disparity in Cryodon is
important.
 As health indicators related to hypertension
differs in people with hypertension, evaluation
of the socioeconomic context of the
population is important to prevent
hypertension and its future consequences
(Mueller et al. 2015).
 The strategy is to reduce multi-level barriers
in reducing disparities related to hypertension
control in Cryodon (Al-Naamani et al., 2017)

APPROACH NEEDED TO
RESOLVE THE ISSUE:
 Some of the approach that can
be taken to control hypertension
in Cryodon includes:
 Promote health literacy among
people in deprived areas
regarding the cause and risk of
hypertension (Halladay et al.
2016).
 Increasing the intensity of
screening is also important to
achieve timely diagnosis and
timely treatment of
hypertension.
 Peer support program can be
initiated to provide culturally
tailored behavioural intervention
to ethnics group in Cryodon
