EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Data analysis in important in Business Analysis. However with the large amount of data
available computer based tools are necessary to process this data. There are so many
Business Analytic tools available and are very common in this area and one of them is
Watson Analytics. BA students needs to be aware of BA tools to increase their chances of
employment after completing their graduation.
Data analytics plays a key role in a better understanding environmental issues and therefore
arming governments and business with the information required to best tackle the effects of
climate change and environmental issues. To learn and use a BA tool it is necessary to
apply it to a sample data so, in this project we will be using climate change as a data to go
through Watson Analytics.
Social media analytics is an increasingly powerful method for obtaining news and discussing
current affairs. Using IBM Watson analytics for social media a data set of tweets and the
associated data can be obtained and visualizations created providing an insight into the role
twitter can play. By analysing key events that drive online discussions and the influential
people social media analysis can be used to help spread knowledge.

Title: Project to learn and use IBM Watson Analytics
Introduction
The purpose of this document is to outline details about learning and using IBM Watson
analytics tool. Data analytics has been playing a key role in forming the better understanding
of the environmental issue. The arming governments and businesses are in need of
information required to best tackle the effects of climate change and environmental issues.
IBM released Watson analytics in 2014. IBM Watson analytics is a cloud based, data
analysis and visualization program that allows users to upload, analyses and visualizes
trends in data. By using Watson analytics, I will be processing data on global warming and
get some solution to it.
Project Background and Justification
Project Background
The business analytics hold and integral part in analyzing the existing operations of the
organization and form the improved functions for the business. The business analytic tools
are helpful for making smart decisions and carry out the processes more effectively. The
tools are required for providing better insight through data visualization. It allows us to
analyze data at an increased pace resulting in improvement of operations.

Currently, the world is experiencing unpleasant nature of climate as the temperature is rising
worldwide resulting in numerous problems to our community. The big question today in the
world is global warming as we all are experiencing dangerous climate changes. So,
everyone needs to contribute something to get somewhat solution to this biggest problem
faced by the world.
Here I am going to use Watson analytics tool for global warming as a source to learn how
this tool exactly works. I would come to know what different things we can do with the tool
and to what extent this tool can be helpful to us which will also benefit me in developing my
skills for further opportunities.
Project Objectives
The main objective of this proposal is to extend my knowledge about business analytics tool
and learn more about how it works with larger datasets. We will be using global warming
data to use this tool thoroughly and get my hands on it. It will also help me to enhance my
employment opportunities after completing my graduation.
Project Scope
To extend my knowledge of business analytics tool and to learn more about BA tool this
project will involve the following key areas
i. First, we will learn the basic functions of Watson analytics and it will involve the
use of tool, reading the manual about the tool, watching videos to use the tool so, first we will
focus on exploring Watson analytics.
ii. After learning basic function we will be trialling with some other sample data just
to get our hand on the tool.
iii. After getting our hand onto the tool we will upload our main data which is about
global warming.
iv. We will process the data we have uploaded.
v. Without you having to do anything Watson analytics identifies patterns and
associations in our data and automatically creates other starting points for us to explore.
vi. The visualization in the tool shows global warming effects by year how it has
increased step by step
vii. Then we can find out pollution level by country for example which country has
got the largest amount of co2 emission ratio and which has the least
viii. We have data about global warming, but we can even check the reasons for
the increase of this effect
ix. We can easily communicate the analysis and insights that we discover in IBM
Watson analytics by combining visualizations with text, images and shapes.
x. We can create a dashboard, infographic, or expert storybook where we can
monitor and share these insights.

xi. It can categorise all the information we need and then we can share it with
others as well.
xii. We can gain insight into social media discussions that are related with global
warming and we can mine social media in different ways and by doing that we can add
metadata as a data asset to explore in this tool.
So, these are the tasks which I am going to undertake in my project and produce an
outcome in different forms.

Project Deliverables
I will be using Watson analytics tool to analyse larger sets of data to help reduce climate
change effects and it will give the following results
 By analysing larger sets of data about cause of global warming I will be able to
decide which factor is causing more damage to the environment.
 By using this tool I will be able to get the rate of carbon emission countrywide so that
we can try to sort it out.
 Because using the tool, we can ask questions and collect information on the different
forms of reasons behind global warming from the tool itself
 We can ask and gather data for air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution and what
are the main reasons behind it.
 So because we can get information about all the reasons for global warming we can
decide what solution we can do for all causes of global warming.
 After completing this I will have all the information about what are the main reasons
behind global warming and how we can contribute and play our part to nature by
protecting it.
 After successful completion of this project, I will be thoroughly able to use Watson
analytics and will be aware of every feature of this tool
 After completion, I will have enough skills and knowledge about BA tool so that I will
be able to make my profile clear in competition for employment.
System Development Methodology
As this project is designed for increasing my understanding and knowledge of using Watson
Analytics, the completion of the project would allow me to understand the application of the
tool sufficiently. The Watson business analysis tool is new for me and hence I would have to
use conventional trial and error method for developing the understanding of the tool. The trial
and error learning approach is helpful for utilizing the learnt method on a sample set of data
and check whether the outcome is appropriate or not. It would help me to understand the
prospect of the outcomes from the tools. The correct outcome would conclude that I have
used the Watson Business Analytic tool correctly while the incorrect outcome would signify
that I need to try the tool in some other ways. Moreover, the use of trial and error approach
would help me in understanding more than one function of the tool and its significance in
application of the appropriate working environment.
Acceptance
The acceptance criteria for the project of Learning IBM Watson Analytics Tool include
the expected outcome from the trial and error method to be in correct. The following are the
acceptance criteria for the project,

Understanding of tool: The expected outcome of the project is aligned for the
understanding of the Watson analytics can be attained. The supportive development of the
understanding is helpful for the tool and its implication for future use. The project would be
acceptable if the completion of the project would be helpful for making me understand about
the tool.
Favourable test outcome: The approach used for the project is the trial and error
method and it would require taking a sample of the data and forming the analysis of the
improved operation and development. The project would be treated as acceptable when the
outcome of the trial and error method would be favourable for the user.
Assumptions, constraints and risks
Assumptions: The assumptions of the project are aligned with the expected outcomes of
the project for Learning IBM Watson Analytics Tool. The assumptions of the project are,
a. The software of IBM Watson Analytics Tool is helpful for forming the alignment of
the successive integration tools
b. The download link of the IBM Watson Analytics Tool would be available for us so
that we can download the software as required for the project
c. The system configuration must support the installation of the IBM Watson Analytics
Tool for assisting the learning of the tool
Constraints: The constraints acting on the project are time, technological knowledge, and
outcome probability. The time is the primary constraint for the project as it is required to
understand the use and application of the tool within the provided time. The lack of
knowledge is another major factor that would bind the use of the application.
Risks: The factors of risk that can have an impact on the project of Learning IBM Watson
Analytics Tool are,
1. Incorrect outcome from the test run of sample data
2. System unable to integrate the IBM Watson Analytics Tool
3. Unable to accumulate the required data for execution
