INTRODUCTION
ICC Cricket World 2019 was one of the biggest event in this year. It was the 12th time
when this World Cup was conducted by ICC. It was commenced on 30th of May and finished on
14th of July. It was hosted by different cities of England and Wales. There are 10 teams who
participated in this cricket tournament. The number of viewers of it was very high around 2.6
billion individuals watched all the matches around the world (ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019).
The whole tournament was won by England. Different cricketers from different countries have
participated in it and attended it. There are various pre event impacts of this Tournament which
includes economic, socio cultural and environmental. One of the major negative influence of
economic factor of it was that the host country have invested a huge amount for its
commencement. The present report is generated for the the purpose of analysing the post event
impacts of the ICC Cricket World 2019. For this purpose different factors such as economic,
environmental, socio cultural etc. are evaluated in the context of event. Along with this, legacy
or legacies resulting from hosting of the event are also covered in this project.
POST EVENT IMPACT ASSESSMENT
Analysis of positive and negative impacts of economic, environment and socio cultural factors
Economic factors: These are the set of elements which are related to economy of a
country. Different examples of it are interest rate, laws, policy, governmental activities etc. All
of them do not affect a business directly but they can influence the investment for future. Five of
the matches were organised by Birmingham which has resulted in huge benefits for it (Gupta and
Patel, 2019). All the negative as well as positive impacts of the event on England and Wales are
as follows:
Positive impacts:
 One of the post event positive impact of the ICC Cricket World on one of the hosting city
of England and Wales which is Birmingham have acquired benefits of 32.1 million
pounds by organising five events of whole tournament. It has increased the national
income and contributed in the development of economy (Kelly, Fairley and O'Brien,
2019). There are various elements which have resulted in huge benefits. These are selling
of tickets, drinks and merchandise, spending of food, money spend by international
visitors in hospitality etc.

 Neil Snowball which is the Chief Executive of Edgbaston Stadium said that the five
matches which are hosted by Birmingham are the biggest summer of cricket which is
experienced by the city. It has raised the total earnings with a huge amount. After
completion of the event the higher authority have planned for refurbishment of the
stadium so that the opportunities for hosting such tournaments could be acquired by them
in future also. It shows that the event have left very good impacts upon England and
Wales which is improvement in the infrastructure of these countries (Post Event Positive

Negative impacts:
 Stock market affected England and Wales after the completion of ICC Tournaments in
year 2019 because at that time prices of shares of all the sponsors were very high but
after the accomplishment of it the market faced different problems. One of them is
sudden sales of all the shares which were bought by customers during the event. It has
resulted in huge losses to the stock market (Kim and Kaplanidou, 2019).
 The World Cup led the England towards betting and the amount which was invested in
speculations activities by speculators was around 2.5 billion which was 1 billion pounds
in year 2014. It shows that the earnings will be distributes between the punters and
bookies. The major problem with it is that an addictive gambling is increased after the
ICC World 2019 which is a huge challenge for the UK public Policy (Post Event

Environmental factors: All the elements which are mainly related to the ecological
system are known as the part of such factors. The major problems which are related to them are
ozone depletion, loss of biodiversity, climate change, heavy rain, disposal of waste,
desertification etc. All of them are required to be focused by businesses which are planning for
the effective execute of events. ICC Cricket World 2019 have faced various positive as well as
negative impacts due to these forces. All the post event implications are as follows in adverse as
well as favourable manner:
Positive impacts:
 When ICC Cricket World 2019 was hosted by England and Wales then higher monetary
resources were generated by these countries which has resulted in higher availability of
funds for spending for the development of nation. All the funding was used by the legal

authority to implement such policies which can help to deal with all the issues which
have taken place due to the ICC event.
 As the ICC Cricket World 2019 was the wettest tournament of all the time therefore it has
affected the climate of the country. For the purpose of dealing with it government of
England and Wales have taken various initiatives for the betterment of the environment.
It has resulted in a good environment after the event which was extremely unseasonable
before the tournament (Sharma and Gursoy, 2019).
Negative impacts:
 The eco system of England and Wales was affected due to the ICC Cricket World 2019
because when it was commenced in the country then the consumption of all the food
items along with other living things in these nations were very high. After the completion
of it England and Wales faced challenges due to this as the availability of all the

It has affected the daily life of individuals who were living in these countries and due to
this the prices of food and beverages in both the countries were very high as sellers were the
manipulators in that situation. Most of the customers were paying huge amount for the eating
items after the event.
Socio cultural factors: These are the set of belief, practices, cultures and customers of
individuals of societies which may affect the feeling or thoughts of people who are living in a
society. All of them can result in alteration of priorities and can become the cause of
misunderstanding among different cross cultural groups (Siddiqui, Yasmin and Humphrey,
2019). There are various implications of these forces on the ICC Cricket World 2019 as it has
affected the standard of living and interest of people in cricket. Description of all the positive as
well as negative impacts is as follows:
Positive impacts:
 ICC Cricket World 2019 was hosted by England and Wales which increased the interest
of local citizens in cricket and resulted in higher involvement of them in social
gatherings. It has also increased the demand of tickets of live matches and resulted in
higher earning of government.

 With the help of this event the tourism in the countries was also increased which has
resulted in higher and well developed social culture of them. For the purpose of attaining
this type of opportunity in future the legal authorities have planned to develop the
infrastructure so that large number of tourists could be attracted towards the nation.
Negative impacts:
 One of the major socio cultural negative impact of ICC cricket World 2019 after the
event was the breaking up on traditional family structure of the countries where the event
was organised. Due to increased tourism the infrastructure of these nations was affected
negatively and resulted in bad social environment of England and Wales (Slak Valek,
2019).
From the above discussion it has been analysed that there are various factors which have
left post event impacts. All of them are economic, environmental, socio cultural etc. due
to them not only negative but also positive results have also been faced by England and
Wales as both of them have hosted the ICC Cricket World 2019.
Identification of legacy or legacies resulting from the event
Legacy can be defined as a money or property which is left by an individual or an event
on the place where it was conducted. As ICC Cricket World 2019 was hosted by England and
Wales and by analysing the details of it, it has been analysed that different legacies are left by it
for the countries. All of them are beneficial for them as with the help of them the countries can
set benchmark for upcoming years in which the destination will be decided for conducting it
again. Description of all the legacies of this event are as follows:
 The main aim of the event was to take the cricket to 1 million children which was
achieved by it and popularity of it w2as increased around the world. It was the major
legacy of this tournament in which large number of people were engaged in it and they
were taking interest to watch the matches between different teams (Post event legacy of
ICC Cricket World. 2019).
 One of the legacy which was left by this event was related to the goals of engaging more
than 70000 school children across England and Wales which are accomplished
successfully. The chance to shine is provided to all the children who were engaged in it
and different cricketers met them in classrooms and took session using cricket as a tool of
education. The countries which are planning to conduct such event in future are required

to keep broad thinking as they have to form plans according to these legacies (Yang,
Song and Moon, 2019).
 The total amount which was generated by the rights of ICC Cricket World 2019 was
around 400 million pounds which is a very high amount. It is also a legacy of the event
which was left by it after completion of it. It was a benchmark for other nations willing to
conduct this type of event in future as they have to formulate plans for higher profits or
the rights which will be sold for the showing the matches on behalf of ICC (Yousaf,
2019).
CONCLUSION
From the above project report it has been concluded that while conducting an event it is
very important for the organisers to make sure that they are analysing the environment of the
location where it will be conducted. For example ICC Cricket World 2019 was organised by
England and Wales and the legal authorities of these countries analyse the pre event impacts of it
in context of social, environmental and economic factors. When an event is completed
successfully then it is also very important to analyse post event implications in context of all
these factors. All of them could be positive as well as negative therefore it has been
recommended to the governmental parities of England and Wales to make sure that all the
unfavourable impacts which are analysed this time should be resulted for the next time. It will be
beneficial for attaining same opportunity in future.
