Usage and Value of ICT in the business operation of a courier company
This journal aims to examine the importance of ICT in Courier Company for business operation. It
focuses on improvement of the courier services in the organisation and for the educational
purposes. This article also analyse the useful case study to improve the services of the courier
company.
Importance of ICT
There are cases where the use of ICT on electronic delivery of courier services, such as
packages and letters were done much faster than the postal services (Nyaga, 2017). Today the
world of business has changed completely, with the introduction of the computers. Businesses
use ICT in different departments that include finance, human resources, security and
manufacturing to run it smoothly (Mohammed & Sadiq, 2015). Today companies can view the
changes that occur in the global markets which is much faster than it is used to be. The business
operation purchase some software and hardware packages to run their business. With the usage
of ICT, businesses can keep up to date with their supply and demand as the customer wants
there items instantly, and the use of ICT efficiently does this. With just a click the consumer can
track there order details, the employees in the courier company get every information related to
the order that has to deliver.
In the modern world the education world is also growing continuously. Students are the inventors,
leaders, businessman of tomorrow. ICT is the key for the students of modern generation as it
offers classes online that is accessible anywhere on mobile phones, tablets, laptops or computers
(Pani, Srimannarayana & Premarajan, 2015). Students can now quickly login or even submit their
assignments while they are busy doing other stuff.
Impact
It improves efficiency, transparency, accountability and reduces bribery. ICT enable service
deliver to customer through online payment mode using mobile device or any other gadgets.
Value of ICT to the organisation
The more the value of ICT in the organisation the more they utilise it for better service delivery. In
a case study, it was found that average value of VAIC is 4.60 that was similar to the value index
of ICT in the service industry of Nigeria (Bukie, 2017). These indicate that the potentials of ICT
were not efficiently utilized for the delivery of service in Nigeria.

Role of communication in a business/education
With the involvement of communication technology within the organisation enables the services
that becomes instantaneous. Without any interruptions, movement of informative data across
departments has now become easier. Customers, employees, suppliers or business partners use
tools like video conferencing, mobile phones, electronic mail, text messaging and instant
messenger enhance the data movement for greater interconnectivity for internal and external
structures.
Today organisation uses technology for competitive advantage. Business innovates and adopts
the technology to improve the processes and for the efficiency of the processes that have high
loyalty rates with the customer. These will consistently meet or may exceed the expectation of the
customers.
