QUESTION 1: IT INFRASTRUCTURE IN ORGANIZATIONS
A. STUDY OF THE ICT INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE ORGANIZATION
Figure 1: ICT Infrastructure in Solaris IT solution
(Source: Created by Author)
The selected organization is Solaris IT solution. The present ICT Infrastructure installed
comprises of robust and relevant hardware to support operations within Solaris IT solution. The
ICT infrastructure is designed specifically to support the existing hardware with the help of
software applications. In Solaris IT solution, network resources are connected centrally so that
the devices and components can communicate with each other as required. The ICT
infrastructure is distributed across Solaris IT solution through different modules such as:

ICT MANAGEMENT
Digital Networking: This module relates to the management of networking within Solaris
IT solution, so that the network infrastructure is centralized.
Digital Communication: This module is related to communication between different
components within Solaris IT solution and a centralized structure is maintained for effective
communication.
Digital Connectivity: Digital connectivity refers to the interconnection between various
components within Solaris IT solution and the present ICT infrastructure is designed such that it
can support required functioning of the organization.
Smart Organization: This module in the ICT infrastructure refers to management of
devices or components and those are organized properly in the within Solaris IT solution.
Smart Connectivity: Smart connectivity refers to connecting mobile devices or other
gadgets to the network and it is efficiently managed by the present existing infrastructure of
Solaris IT solution.
Smart Computing: Computing is the basic requirement for performing required
operations and it is effectively handled with the help of present ICT infrastructure of Solaris IT
solution.
The existing ICT infrastructure in Solaris IT solution is divided into three broad
categories and the basic elements are discussed as below:
1. Data Centre
The Data Centre is a storehouse that stores the computing facilities that is required for the
functioning of the entire Information and Communication Technology. The storing place of
firewalls that are installed in the computing devices for protecting the devices as well as the
networking system, switches, backup equipment, fire subdual instruments, routers and the air
condition machines is known as the Data Center of the organization. Dell power Edge T20 is
preferred for the processing of the server system. Data switch or Ethernet switches are used to
connect points on internal LAN within the organization. Incremental back up system is used in
the existing infrastructure such that data backup and recovery can processed easily in case of any

failure. Business related data or information about transactions and customer details is stored
with the help of backup facility so that business operations can be smoothly carried out in future.

2. Servers and Client
The client server model is known to be distributed among the distribution of the
communication framework of the process that is followed in the networking of the process. The
clients and the service seekers are the constituents of the Servers and client model. The client
server interrelation is made with the help of the networking system that utilizes internet in the
course of its usage (Garnier & Madlener, 2015). The existing ICT infrastructure comprises of
one Database server, two Application servers, one File server and Active Directory to handle the
users according to their roles. The client server model is a complete conceptual based networking
system that includes exchange of the web and data base information, the client server model
includes exchanging of emails as a source of communication. The client server model includes
protocols that enhances the functioning of the client server model. The protocols that finds
proper usage in the server – client model are as follows: -
Hypertext Transfer protocol
Simple Mail Transfer protocol
Domain Name system
Telnet
3. Network devices
The network devices provides services on order to demarcate and differentiate the local
loop that has been in use with the carrier from the on premises wing that has been used by the
customers residing place. The companies that deal with the manufacturing and production of the
mobiles are concerned with the facts of maintaining the wiring of the networking interface
devices. R250 networking systems might act to be beneficial for the performance of the system.
The users of the company is responsible for the networking interface after the point where the
mobile manufacturing organizations stop their networking responsibilities. The point of interest
of the customer’s end is benefitted by providing them the networking system outside their
residency place or near the utility entrance section of the network.
B. COLLABORATIVE WORK
Information and Communication Technology has Communication media as a part of its
infrastructure. The devices that are enrolled in the course of the information and communication

technology are ever evolving in nature and the increase in usage of the devices, they have been
enjoying global acceptance in the field of Information and Communication Technology (Banares
& Altmann, 2018). The communication department of the Information and Communication
technology finds its use in fetching the data from a computing system, string the same data,
modulating the fetched and stored data and then send the data to their desired location. The
forms of Communication system that is being used in the field of Information and
Communication architecture are as follows: -
Electronic Mail: Electronic the most common term of the mail, which is commonly
known as the e-mail, is one of the most efficient ways to communicate using the digital platform.
Electronic communication is most common mode of communication in the aspect of the digital
communication (Muchai & Kimuyu, 2016). Electronic mail finds importance as it is possible to
send files as well as the pictures and videos through the electronic mail. E-mail is used by Solaris
IT solution for communication between different departments of Solaris IT solution as important
information can be shared with the help of this communication method. Daily activities or work
logs can be kept track with the help of email for checking and resolving issues that may hamper
the business activities. This technology helps in gaining a grip over the performance of the
proceeding of the business terminology over the mailing system. E-mail is also used by Solaris
IT solution for directly dealing with the client through digital communication in cases when
physical visit to client is not possible every time.
Video Conferencing: Video conferencing is an ideal procedure for getting the job done
by face-to-face contact using a virtual medium to get in touch with the required candidates and
progress with the official dealings. Video conferencing has the benefit of connecting with more
than one group of person at a time. Multiple users can be accessed with proper clarity for the
access of the business. Solaris IT solution can directly convey the message to the clients and
relevance if the message being conveyed is much convincing as the doubts can be cleared by
Solaris IT solution directly and the efficiency of the business is maintained.
Telephonic conferencing: Telephonic conferencing is the most convenient mode of
communication among all the modes of communication including the electronic mail and the
video conferencing. As in case of performing the business proceedings with the electronic mail is
very much time consuming as both the dealers of the business need to online in the virtual

platform for the proceedings of the project (Biswas & Akhter, 2017). In case of Video
conferencing, the users need to have high quality internet connection for proceeding with the
business. Telephone conferencing helps Solaris IT solution to reach the client directly and the
live streaming of the ideologies and views can be made use of.
C. NETWORKING
The recommendations that must be followed in order to get an efficient functioning of the
project are as follows: -
Local Area Network: The benefit of Local Area Network is that it is bounded to one
building and the connection are made using cables in the organization.
Wireless Local Area Network: The benefit of using Wireless local area network is that it
comprises of connecting of the computing devices inside the same building without connecting
them through wires.
Wireless Area Network: The benefit of Wireless Area Network is that deals with the
networking procedure that connects computing device located in a distant area with each other
without the wired connections.
QUESTION 2: EVOLUTION OF DATABASE TECHNOLOGY
1. The evolution of database started in the year 1979 with Larry Ellison launching the first
version of SQL. SQL has been the only database organization that was being used in the
year 1979.
2. In the year, 1980 Microsoft joined the process, made the process, and launched Sybase
(Risch, 2015). Microsoft was leading the market base as it efficiently supported the
technology.
3. Portable versions of database with the name of Oracle was launched in the year 1983.
Oracle was leading the market base as it efficiently supported the technology.
4. In the year, 2005 Microsoft released XML and Relational database (Stonebraker, Deng &
Brodie, 2017). Microsoft was leading the market base as it efficiently supported the
technology.
5. Oracle was ruling the business without facing any kind of competition until 2007 when
Microsoft invested $15 billion on the project of updating the version of XML and

relational database (Papastefanatos, 2016). Microsoft was leading the market base as it
efficiently supported the technology.
6. Since the year 2007 the competition between the Oracle and My SQL is continuing.
Oracle and My SQL are leading the market base as it efficiently supported the
technology.
