Introduction
Information and communication technology is now used in every field. There are regular
updates in the technology that business organisations adopt in order to compete in digital age
(Ayat and et.al., 2020). This report is based on information and communication technology
used by Sainsbury’s. The company was established in 1869 in London. It is now second
largest chain of supermarket in United Kingdoms. There is discussion related to role of ICT
on operations of business. It helps to create and exchange knowledge in effective manner.
The benefits of ICT are mentioned in this report.
The Role of ICT in Business Operations
The use of information and communication technology is used by businesses in wide
range of operations. There is need of taking care about all the important business operations
that take place in organisation such as finance, marketing etc. The role is mentioned below:
Management department: The process of management is now more effective with the
use of ICT. It has enhanced the business communication among the employees so that the
work is attained effectively (Haldorai, Murugan and Ramu, 2021). The transparency of
carrying the projects is also enhanced by the use of latest software’s. In regard to Sainsbury’s
they are able to take care about the performance of their employees in effective manner. they
are able to check their profitability and progress rate and know their clear picture.
Finance department: It is one of the important department of the organisation. It is
important to use latest technology in finance in order to keep the data safe and secure. The
use ICT helps Sainsbury’s to manage the online payments in effective manner and provide
valuable information to all the parties. The electronic storage helps to keep the records of
company effectively.
Marketing department: It helps the company to spread awareness about the company
to the customers. The marketing departments works to enhances the sales of business
organisation. By the use of information and technology, Sainsbury’s is able to use digital
marketing. This enhances the sales of the business and attain successful position in the
market. The marketing department have seen considerable change by the use of latest

software’s in marketing (Eze and et.al., 2018). It helps in using connecting with the wider
audience and attracting customers.
Human resource department: The HR department of the company is responsible to
hire best suitable candidates for the job. The use of information and communication
technology helps to get more candidates to hire. The policy of selection is facilitated by the
use of latest technology. The Sainsbury’s use ICT in order to select the best candidates out of
available. The test is taken on online modes nowadays so that selection is done within right
time. Also the process of training is able to facilitated by use virtual mode. The performance
of employees is also facilitated by using latest technology.
Creating and exchanging knowledge
There is key role of ICT in today’s time so that the proper knowledge is transferred. In
today’s time there is lot of information that is available and storing them is facilitated by the
use of information and communication technology. The online research helps Sainsbury’s to
carry on details in effective manner. Knowledge management is important for the businesses
so that the data collected in analysed effectively (Najaf and et.al., 2022). There is need of
filtering the information in effective manner so that it is used in appropriate manner. The data
mining helps to manage the work and implementing the use of latest technology. The proper
knowledge management assist in enhancing the overall organisational efficiency. By creating
information, Sainsbury’s is able to take all the necessary decisions in effective manner. The
better decision making by the business is important for their growth and profitability in the
market.
In this dynamic environment, the exchange of information is necessary. There is need of
exchanging the information with all the stakeholders. The data and information related to
company is shared with the customers so that they make purchases (Jalil and Hwang, 2019).
The information is also exchanged with all the suppliers and investors in order to gain their
trust and attain better position. Information and communication technology has facilitated the
process of creating and exchanging knowledge by Sainsbury’s.
ICT and Business Success
ICT has benefited the success of business and attaining efficiency in market. The use of
ICT assists the company to enhance efficiency of the business. The communication becomes
easy and effective by the use of ICT. The employees are able to have good relations with

easy and the company is able to attain success. The trends are monitored in effective manner
by the use of ICT. The company is able to attain improved business success and better
performance.
Conclusion
From the above report, it has been concluded that information and communication
technology plays a major role in success of enterprise. There is key role of using latest
technology as all the business functions are managed in effective manner. The creation and
exchange of information is facilitated by the use of ICT. The benefits of business by the use
of ICT is discussed in the end of this report.
