Introduction
Information and communications technology or ICT is the extended version of
information technology that always stresses on the integration of any kind of
telecommunications with various audiovisual systems (Rice & Leonardi, 2014). The merging
of all types of computer network systems with the telephone network by utilizing one unified
cabling system and management of signal.
The following report outlines a brief description on the usage and value of
information and communications technology in any courier company (Holtshouse, 2013).
The report also provides details regarding the usage of ICT in everyday business operations
of the organization.
Discussion
ICT in Courier Company
Courier companies operate in every scale, right from particular cities or towns to
global, national and even regional services. All types of letters or packages are sent from one
place to another with the help of courier services worldwide (Bilbao-Osorio, Dutta & Lanvin,
2013). The major advantage of any courier company is its speed. The package is sent within
extremely short span of time, sometimes even within two working days. Moreover, this type
of service does not incur huge cost and can be termed as cost effective in nature.
ICT helps to transmit, store, gather and manipulate data. It is extremely secured and
can be utilized for bulk amount of data. Courier services deal with huge amount of data and
thus should be extremely cautious about their data (Bloom et al., 2014). If any type of
mistake occurs in case of their courier information, the letter or the package could be

misplaced and the receiver would never receive it. The saviour in this type of dilemma is
ICT, which helps to deal with huge amount of data easily and systematically. The courier
company has to link their computer network and database with the telecommunications

complexity would be reduced.
Advantages of ICT in Courier Company
There are various advantages of ICT in any courier company. The advantages are as
follows:
i) Cost Effectiveness: This is the most important advantage of ICT in courier
company. ICT is not at all expensive and thus all the courier companies could easily afford
them.
ii) Communication: ICT helps to communicate with its clients (Rice & Leonardi,
2014). The courier company could easily communicate with their customers and thus speed,
money and time is saved due to this.
iii) Greater Availability: The third advantage that a courier company would get from
ICT is the greater availability (Bilbao-Osorio, Dutta & Lanvin, 2013). They can be open at
anywhere and at anytime whenever the customer wants to connect them.
iv) Security: This is another important advantage of ICT in the courier company. ICT
provides utmost security to the information and the courier company can utilize this easily.
Conclusion
Therefore, from the above discussion it can be concluded that, integration of unified
telecommunications with the computer network is known as ICT. These systems allow the
