integration of computers and telecommunications for enabling the users in accessing, storing,
manipulating and transmitting information (Eason, 2014). The significant convergence of

This ICT is used within the business operations of any sector. The following report outlines a
brief discussion on the usage and value of ICT in travel agency.

Usage and Value of ICT in Travel Agency
Information and communications technology is utilized in various industries for the
proper execution of their business processes. The data is well recorded and stored and thus
executing the business processes is much easier in any business. The travel technology is the
significant application of IT within the travel and tourism industry. The best form of travel
technology is flight tracking (Bilbao-Osorio, Dutta & Lanvin, 2013). The flights are
eventually tracked with the help of ICT. As travel significantly implies locomotion, this
travel technology is associated with CRS or computer reservations system. It is the subset of
hospitality industry. Travel technology majorly involves computer reservations system and
thus representing the broader range of applications.
The usage and value of ICT for the business operations in travel agency are given
below:
i) Communication: The first and the foremost advantage of this ICT for the business
operations of travel agency is communication (Marchewka, 2014). ICT allows easy

communication within the business and clients. The travel agency can easily connect with
their clients and other people worldwide with ICT.

iii) Data Storage: Another significant use of information and communications
technology in the business operations of travel agency is easy storage of data (Xiang,
Magnini & Fesenmaier, 2015). The travel agency requires to store important and vital data or
information about their clients and business details. Hence, data storing is extremely
important for them.
iv) Competitive Advantages: The fourth significant use of ICT in the business
operations of travel agency is gaining competitive advantages. These competitive advantages
allow any business to outperform all of its competitors properly (Eason, 2014). This mainly
includes access to the natural resources or gaining knowledge about geographic location.
v) Cost Effectiveness: The final advantage of ICT within the business operations of
travel agency is cost effectiveness. This technology is absolutely cost effective and hence
could be used by all travel agencies.

Therefore, from the above discussion, it can be concluded that information technology
is the significant utilization of various systems or computers for completing any type of data
or information operation within the enterprise or business. This is the subset of ICT or
