To succeed in an ever-changing ICT profession, it is very important to become a lifelong
learner. Do some background research, evaluate the information and write about your
understanding of being a lifelong learner and why it is important for ICT professional
(write with an example)
A lifelong learner is an individual who wants to keep on gaining knowledge of different areas for
their own benefits or for the benefits in a qualified area. This is done so that an individual can
increase their knowledge and skills for self-fulfilment or to become a successful person. These
are the elements that are supposed to be in an ICT (Information and communication technology)
professional. The role of an ICT professional is to give advice regarding everything that is
related to technology. This is done by conducting research, making of plans and testing each of
the plans. Both of these interlink with each other as new technology keeps on increasing in the
world which would lead to the individual’s capability of learning more and more. New skills
would need to be acquired each time a new technology or an existing technologies update would
come out so that if there are any issues relating to it then they can be dealt with in a proper
manner. An example of a lifelong learner would be learning new languages.
Analyse the information you gathered in step 1, do some further research, evaluate the
information and write in your own words how you can become an effective lifelong learner
(include your plan for that).
After analysing what it is meant to be a lifelong learner I have made a plan which would help me
to become a lifelong learner. The first thing that I would have to do is to be committed to
becoming a learner. I would leave some time for other activities but my main motive would be to
gain knowledge. In my next step, I would organise my learning in a way so that there are no
distractions that can take my attention away from my goal. I would set up reminders so that
whenever I am distracted from my task I could return to it right away. In the next step, I would
make sure that I would give each task the same amount of dedication. If I start to multitask then I
would end up gaining only little bits of knowledge and not be able to comprehend the whole
base. In my last step, I would try to avoid stress and keep in repeating the process again and
again so that the knowledge would be stuck in my head for a long period of time. As a student, I
would need to manage my time and study according to the other subjects that I am being taught.

Write your reflection on this task. Your reflection should include the followings:
Briefly describe how you did the task (about the process)
I did this task by using various researches that helped to collect information and analyse it for
answering the questions.
Evaluate and write a brief description of your experience of doing this task. Was this task
easy or hard? Justify your answer briefly (your justification may include if your past
knowledge helped you doing this task or if it was a totally new experience for you).
This task that was done by me was not that hard but nor was it too easy. The part that I found a
bit hard was to find the proper linkage between the two factors but once it was found then the
rest of the task turned out to be easily done. Even though this was the first time that I did this
task the information was easy to find but the relating it to the questions was a little bit difficult.
Analyse critically and explain what have you learnt from this task? If you think you did not
learn anything then give a reason why you think so?
This task has no taught me that much of qualities that I did not know of. It did teach a little bit
about what an Information and Communication technology professional is but other than that I
did know about what a lifelong learner is. The research which was done by me was done quickly
as the internet provided me with the answers directly. I had to read and analyse the information
carefully which was the only part that was time-consuming.
How this experience will help you in the future? If you think that this experience will not
help you in the future, then provide your reasoning for that as well.
The experience of doing this task will help me in the future as the plan I made out could show
me how I can really become a lifelong learner. By becoming this then I could probably look into
the career of becoming an ICT professional.
