Journal and Reflective Writing
AI Summary
This assignment comprises two parts: an evaluation of another group's presentation on the integration of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the learning setting, and a reflective journal on the author's own group presentation. The evaluation highlights the other group's focus on the benefits of ICT for special needs children, including access to diverse academic literature, visual learning, and dictation. The reflective journal compares the author's group's administrative perspective, emphasizing teacher-parent collaboration and student cooperation through ICT, and suggests improvements by exploring the future of ICT in education. The assignment concludes that both presentations complement each other, with one focusing on the learning process and the other on the teaching process.

Group Presentations
Part 1
The other group’s presentation on the integration of information and communications
technology (ICT) in the learning setting engages the audience in a subconscious dialogue
regarding the value of such innovations. The presenters begin by acknowledging the fact that
ICT goes beyond fundamental hardware such as the computer: it involves various resources
including projectors, the internet, software applications, microphones, and smartphones among
others. Such a perspective is quite vital for an audience that lacks sufficient knowledge on the
subject. Fairly speaking, the group presenters seem to understand the need to enhance the
audience’s grasp of the topic since they delve into mind blowing details regarding the same.
As mentioned, the group provides informative details with respect to the topic. The
presenters’ focus on the role of ICT in the learning process of special needs children is quite
captivating. First, the group asserts that the broad range of academic literature online offers
diverse perspectives on most if not all classroom concepts. Such a factor benefits children with
learning disabilities (Hesterman, 2013). As a matter of fact, the presenter argues that these
learners can gain from the repetitive data. Second, children with physical disabilities can also
gain from the advanced computer functions including visual learning and dictation. Note that
visual learning allows children with auditory impairments to benefit from education (Dong &
Newman, 2016). On the other hand, dictation allows handicapped learners to take classroom
notes. The group points out other obvious advantages including enhanced communication skills
(thanks to activities such as presentations) and personalized learning.
On that note, it appears wise to conclude that the other group’s presentation captured vital
aspects of ICT in the learning development. The group demonstrated immense understanding of

the subject matter through their in-depth discussion of the roles of technology in the learning set-
up.
Part 2
After a thorough evaluation of the other group’s presentation on the role of ICT in the
education setting, I have noticed that my group provided a rather administrative perspective. At
this juncture, the reader is urged to consider the fact that most of the advantages highlighted by
the preceding group emphasize enhanced learning experience. While my group explored the
same, focus was placed on administrative factors such as teacher-parent collaboration, student
cooperation, and engagement in the classroom. According to our research, ICT promotes parent-
teacher interactions through software solutions such as school web portal (Nordin, 2015). Such
an innovation allows teachers to keep parents updated on their children’s learning progress (and
vice-versa). We also found that such technologies promote cooperation and engagement among
the students. Perhaps, this kind of outcome is highly attributed to the fact that the technologies
offer an enjoyable learning experience (PC Dreams, 2016). One cannot debate the preceding
stipulation especially since ICT allows teachers to effectively integrate visuals and audio in their
lectures.
For now, it suffices to claim that like the other group’s presentation, ours is equally
informative. However, we can still improve our scope of focus by exploring the future of ICT in
the education sector. For now, emphases have been placed on the current usage, merits, and
demerits of digital technology in the learning environment. An exploration of the future learning
environment is quite essential given the transformative nature of information and
communications technology. An in-depth understanding of the digital trends might enhance the

applicability of these innovations in future. The knowledge gained from the proposed
investigation is bound to improve the teaching profession unprecedentedly.
Therefore, an analytical observer can agree that my group’s presentation compliments, or
rather supplements the preceding group’s work. Such a bold declaration would be founded on the
fact that ours describes the impacts of digital technology on the teaching process while theirs
emphasizes the effects on the learning process.
