AI Summary
This assignment focuses on professional skills in the ICT field. It begins by addressing the debate between technical and soft skills, arguing for the importance of both, and using Steve Jobs' perspective as an example. The assignment then examines a case of potential academic misconduct, analyzing a paragraph about machine learning and its cited reference. It identifies the issue as a case of incorrect referencing, potentially constituting cheating according to academic integrity policies. The student outlines the reading strategies used to identify the issue, including rereading, activating prior knowledge, and identifying keywords. The assignment fulfills the requirements of Portfolio 1, assessing the student's understanding of professional skills and academic integrity within an ICT context, and offers a detailed analysis of the skills needed for ICT professionals.

1PROFESSIONAL SKILLS IN ICT
Answer to question 1
ICT should not only focus on their IT skills but also on soft skills. One of the mistakes
that people make while pursuing their career is that they stop learning once they are done
with their diploma degree. The technical skills rotate around the capabilities and the
knowledge that a person possesses which are industries specific. They are very hard and are
obtained through different types of training, work experience, internships and also through
observing and listening. The technical that a person possesses are listed in a CV which acts as
an indicator of the expertise of the person. There are other skills that belongs to the class of
technical skills are, for example: foreign languages knowledge or knowledge of tools that can
be useful.
But technical skills are not enough. The modern employers recognise leadership, time
management, communication among the people, and flexibility as the skills that are most
important that a candidate should have so as to get a job or remain in an organisation. For
example Steve Jobs the former CEO of APPLE stated that only technical skills are not
enough. There should also be soft skills inside the candidate or the person. He also favoured
passion over experience during the hiring of employees for his company.
Answer to question 2(b)
No, the information that is given in the paragraph cannot be found on the reference
that is given in the paragraph above.
The reference cannot be used as to support the paragraph above because the reference
contains a study about the Bayesian model which can used for machine learning. But the
paragraph consists of the application of machine learning. So, it can be taken under a case of
fake referencing.
The use of referencing in the paragraph above can be constituted as an academic
misconduct because it does not match with reference that is given in the paragraph.
The academic misconduct that can be found in this case is cheating. The above case is
an example of cheating according to the CQU Student Academic Integrity Policy and
Procedure. Cheating means any kind of fraud, deceit or dishonesty which has any relation
with the assessment like the any false or fake data, citations and information which is a part
of any assessment.

2PROFESSIONAL SKILLS IN ICT
The reading strategies that are used for the completion of the previous task are:
Reread the paragraph and the reference that is given
Activated the knowledge that was known about machine learning.
Located the key words.
Summarized the texts given
Thought aloud about the paragraph and the reference that is given.
It can be clearly seen that the information in the paragraph cannot be seen in the
reference that is used for citation. The above reference cannot be used in the paragraph.
Clearly it is a case of academic misconduct. The reference cannot support the paragraph
because the reference is about the Bayesian model that is used in machine learning and the
paragraph that is given is about the application of machine learning. Firstly I read the
paragraph thoroughly and then read and reread the reference that is given in the paragraph.
Then I used the knowledge of machine learning that was known to me. After that i came to
the conclusion that the paragraph and the reference is completely different because the
paragraph is about the application of machine learning and the reference is about the
Bayesian model. Then I located the key words in the paragraph and tried to find it on the
reference but could not fine many. Just one or two key words were found in the reference.
Then next thing was to think about the paragraph and the reference. After reading both of
them it can be found that the paragraph and the reference is different and it is a case of
cheating according to the CQU Student Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure.
