If there is something you would improve about the policy, what would it be?
What is the best and worst plan about the policy?
Plan of action for the improvement of the policy and resource efficiency.
Identify the opportunity. The company has realized the opportunity of supplying waste to the
re usage of the company paper and stationery waste6.
Develop a solution. The solution develop is to recycle the paper to reduce paper waste and make
the company clean. The company has also decided to recycle the product to manage the paper
waste. Selling the electronic used computers that can still be used for further usage7.
Implement the solution. The company is in the process of implementation and is consulting
various stakeholders before fully installing the procedure. The company has therefore come up
with the following plan to implement any challenges that might have been mentioned by the
stakeholders.
From the problems identified by both the stakeholders and staff of the company, the company
will develop the following improvement plan based on Kaizens policy.
Implement and be patient for perfection.
The program will be implemented and gain perfection slowly. No program gains perfection at
once, therefore the plan will be put through and receive perfection with time.
Correcting mistakes as soon as they are found.

Any mistakes that might arise during the implementation will be addressed and changed
immediately. The change is done within the realization so that it doesn’t affect the end
realization of the policy8.
No substitution of money for thinking
The improvement will be more of creativity rather than use of capital. The company will
therefore use more creativity than monetary terms in implementing money into the
implementation and improvement of the policy.
Use of opinions
For any improvement opinions from both the stakeholders and the employees will be taken very
serious. The committee will also take opinions from the people who were not part of the
committee than the people who are at the committee. The conferences will therefore be
organized with the employees rather than the board and other stakeholders. The decisions must
be based on data and not opinions from different people. Although opinions might also be very
important.
Reduce use of excuses
Execution of the policy into the programs that can be managed well instead of finding within the
process excuses for not implementing the policy9.

SUSTAINABILITY POLICY FOR ICT COMPANY 16
For the past 6 months, the company has purchased 220 remanufactured laser toner and inkjet
printer cartridges from their supplier Green Business Products.
Cost savings range from 25% - 60% of the price of new cartridges.
New cartridges typically cost $98-$158 each.
The company also gets $5 credit for each recycled cartridge.
In terms of lighting, the company has replaced all 60W light bulbs with 13W 6400-kelvin high-
efficiency bulbs in the entire Administration building.
A single 60W light bulb burns $5.96 worth of electricity per month. This is doubly the
case with down lights, which typically consume 50W - which equates to 200W in an
average four-light office, costing $0.03 per hour or $0.72 a day to run.
On the other hand, a 13W 6400-kelvin high-efficiency bulb consumes just $0.03 per day
one-sixth the cost of incandescent10.
There are 28 four-light offices in the Administration building, a library equivalent to four
offices, a kitchen and dining area approximately the same size as the library and eight
four-light toilets each.
The company has also reduced paper waste to half the number.
