Practical Assignment
AI Summary
This document presents a solution for the ICTNWK508 Diploma of Information Technology Networking assignment, focusing on installing, operating, and troubleshooting medium enterprise switches. The assignment involves selecting an IP addressing scheme and subnet mask to create multiple subnets, detailing the rationale behind the selections. It includes creating and allocating IP addresses to different departments (HR, Sales, and Management), specifying subnet masks, and defining device IP addresses and default gateways. The solution covers the creation of subnets, IP address allocation for various devices like servers, PCs, and switches, and the configuration of access router interfaces. The document includes tables for IP address allocation and subnet creation, providing a comprehensive overview of network configuration for the given scenario. The assignment is a portfolio task assessing the student's ability to design and implement IP addressing schemes.

ICTNWK508 Install, operate and troubleshoot medium enterprise switches
1. Selected IP Addressing Scheme
(Use the IP Address tables given in ICTNWK508-Assessment-2-Information document)
2. Selected Subnet mask to
get at least three equal-
sized subnetworks
Selected (new) Subnet Mask
Decimal Notation CIDR
255.255.255.0 /24
Show your workings here including the reason for selection of the new subnet mask
Firstly, 192.168.100.0 has been chosen from the list of IP addresses because of the reason
that this address refers to the most basic type of IP that provisions majority of the computers
along with the switches that is present within the network diagram to enable the entire
network to be working properly along with the highest amount of efficiency.
On the other hand, 255.255.255.0/24
Has been chosen because it is known that most of the subnet addresses have this kind of
the form where the class of the subnet changes from network to network. However, the
chosen subnet is considered to be the basic subnet address and hence, has been chosen
to make the configuration procedure much simpler and to make the entire network
architecture to be working much smoother.
