Abstract
The main aim of the report is to highlight the case of the organization named IFG and analyze
the different problems which they have been facing at large. The company functions in a
technology related environment and thus, is facing IT related issues, data mismanagement and
intense competition. Through this report, a recommendation has been made as a response to the
case study which will help in understanding the solutions which can be adopted by the
organization at large.

The problems being faced by IFG
From the given case study, it can be analyzed that IFG is being faced by a large number
of problems. The business environment is competitive and it is due to this reason that it can be
stated that the competition to IFG is very tough and the largest competitor, the Grocer Limited
has been taking away all the showcase shelfs which makes it difficult for the IFG Company to
ensure that the company is successfully able to ensure prime space. Another problem which is
being faced by the organization is that there exists a data rush which means that due to the
development of the technology, there has been a large data base available, however, the expertise
at the BI team has not been able to successfully extract this given data and this often leads to
problems on the side of the firm and this has fostered two opposite trends within the workplace.
Moreover, as pointed out by the IFG Business Intelligence head, Mark, there exists a certain
level of misinformation as to the basic definitions of ordinary terms like the In stock, customers,
suppliers and employees which thereby makes it difficult for the analysists to extract data and
apply the information suitable with respect to the needs of the firm (McKeen & Smith, 2012).
This has also led to a need for a larger innovation team at IFG to manage the different
technological developments which take place at the workplace and the external business
environment.
A Recommended solution to manage their problems
As observed from the given case study, the main issue at the particular workplace arises
due to the overflow of the information. In addition to this, a major share of the funds of the
company go towards the marketing activity of the business in order to combat against the
different competitors as well and in addition to this, the business lacks sufficient resources which
will go a long way in helping them to address the data problem nor can they install a data mart

(Sharda, Delen & Turban, 2016). Hence, as a solution to leverage the mismanagement of
information at IFG and to ensure that the organization is successful in ensuring that the current
problem at hand, which is that the key words like `in stock`, customers, suppliers and the
different terms need to be solved because this is the base of the entire data system and if the
company is unable to manage the basic information, it will not be able to extract relevant data.
Hence, as a solution to these problems, the business tool of a Digital Platform is being
recommended (Fan, Lau & Zhao, 2015). A digital platform can be stated to be an electronic
interface which goes a long way in helping the business to visualize the different data as present
in the workplace and gather data from various sources like databases, locally hosted files along
with web services. Furthermore, using these digital platforms, the users of the system will also be
able to ensure that the business performance is measured considerably by the display of historic
trends, actionable data and current condition (Post et al., 2002). Hence, the installation of the
digital platform will ensure that the correct terms are understood well and then these terms can
be successfully used to make adequate decisions at IFG. This will also not enable the business to
aggravate their existing data predicament.
