Section Four: Activities and timescales
Primary and secondary sources help the researchers to gather
data regarding their topic to reach any conclusion
(Silverman, 2016). In order to evaluate the effectiveness of
the joint venture the researcher will collect primary data by
conducting survey and interview.
Data analysis techniques
Researcher will use both qualitative and quantitative data
analysis technique to analyse gathered data related to the
new joint venture of IKEA and Bedmate Furniture.
Quantitative technique will be applied to perform the
analysis of survey data. However, data collected from
interview will be analysed by qualitative technique.

Non sampling random technique will be applied by the
researcher to collect research data as it will be difficult to
gather information from large population. In case of
interview, two managers of IKEA and Bedmate Furniture
will be selected. On the other side, 100 employees of IKEA
and 100 customers of Bedmate Furniture will be asked to
participate in survey. Online questionnaire will be given to
the participants through email.

Section Five: Research approach and methodologies
Silverman (2016) commented that, positivism philosophy allows the researchers to meet their research objectiv
logical representation of their collected data. Instead of selecting realism or interpretivism, the researcher will
positivism philosophy to know about the contribution of joint venture in case of expanding business globally
philosophy will be chosen because of its logical nature that will help to understand the advantage and disadvanta
joint venture in an effective way.
There are two type of approaches such as deductive and inductive (Flick, 2015). In case of analysing impacts of joint
venture on IKEA’s business, the researcher will use deductive approach so that it will not require them to implement
theoretical ideas. On the other hand, if the researcher will select inductive approach then new ideas need to be develo
by him. For this reason, researcher will refuse to use this approach and adopt deductive approach.
