1.What is the Christian concept of the imago Dei? How might it be important to health
care, and why is it relevant?
2. According to your worldview, what value does a human person have? How does your
position affect your stance on controversial bioethical issues, such as abortion, designer
babies, and stem cell research?
Ans 1. The Imago Dei is also called as the image of god is concept followed in across the world.
It is a theological doctrine in three different religions like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It
defines that human being are the image of god and every human being have god in them self. We
are different form animals because we have the consciousness and the ability to speak which is
imago Dei “image of God”. In Christianity is thought that over the time human shave degraded
and now with the cross and gods prayer human are reunited to god. It’s a spiritual relationship
between human and God which include honor and respect for both.
As humans life depend on healthcare thus by concentrating the attention on preserving
life and giving dignity to everyone, health care specialist are able to value human’s life above
anything else on earth, like it’s a duty towards God (Evans, 2019). Due to modernization
humans are believed to be no more than a sick body who comes to hospitals for treatment. This
though is rude and wrong. The concept has importance because of imago Dei does not supports
it.
It is relevant because if we believe in Image Dei then morally human should not eat
another organism. Thus as humans are places as an image of God they are superior to all the
animals. According to the concept of imago dei, humans are placed as separate and superior

beings and they cannot eat another human being. But it is the responsibility to treat the sick and
dying with all dignity and respect and should hope for a positive outcome.
Ans2. According to me Humans are creatures made of flesh and blood. They are born on earth
for some purpose and to achieve that purpose they go through several tests. They have to keep
performing as this is the rule of the nature. A human person should have some ethical values that
can distinguish them from animals. They should be kind, honest and social. Being a health care
staff I understand that science has progressed to a level where we are capable of developing new
organisms. We are highly educated and understand the risk of involving engineered organisms in
life. We have learned to live in good and bad situations with the help of science.
Abortion is essential to not only control population and related problems, but it also helps
in giving freedom to women. If a child cannot be accepted in the womb it should not be brought
to the world. This is for the goodness of parent and also for the baby.
Designer babies are an achievement for the science. We are able to create humans with
the technology. If the babies are able to be flawless and that makes someone happy then its an
achievement. A healthy baby is all that we are trying to generate.
Stem cell technology is also a miracle of science. Now we are able to regenerate anything
with the help of stem cell. A stem cell is a gift from nature every organism have a piece of stem
cell that build their body any immune system (Tomasetti, & Vogelstein, 2017). With the help of
stem cell we will be able to cure much incurable disease. Science and technology is trying to
make the world safe and secure.
