CHAPTER 4: DATA ANALYSIS
Data analysis is defined as the chapter which is related with analysing the gathered
information in such a manner that research can be aligned with research objectives. There are
two major methods that can be used by researcher in order to analyse overall gathered
information and to attain research objectives. Two methods of data analysis are frequency
distribution and thematic analysis. In the terms of quantitative research, frequency distribution
table can be used so that overall results can be attained. On the other hand, using thematic
analysis qualitative research can be executed. In the context of current research, thematic
analysis is used so that in qualitative manner. Using interview data is collected within the
research in which 4 respondents are taken so that to align overall results. For the current research
thematic analysis is elaborated as under:
Thematic analysis
Theme 1: What do you think about self-driving or autonomous vehicles?
Respondent 1: The first respondent have said that process used within self driving vehicles are
associated with high-tech sensors and cameras so that in real time the vehicle can take their own
judgements.
Respondent 2: Respondent 2 have said that autonomous vehicles includes collection of data
using different sensors of the vehicle so that understanding can be given to vehicles in terms of
movement and human driving activities.
Respondent 3: Respondent 3 have said that self driving vehicles are not that appropriate as
human driving vehicles as they are missing human factor in that. This is the major reason that
self driving vehicles are not accurate and compatible for all the markets and areas. The vehicles
are laced with huge technologies but also the same is lacking behind to the level of perfection.
Respondent 4: Respondent 4 have said that self driving vehicles are comfortable and safe as
they are fitted with different technologies and systems which are able to provide uninterrupted
driving experience to their rider. This can be said that self-driving vehicles are hassle free and
do not having any risks with it.
Theme 2. Do you think that self-driving vehicle will happen?

do not having any risks with it.
Theme 2. Do you think that self-driving vehicle will happen?
Respondent 1: Respondent 1 have said that for sure self-driving vehicle will happen which

means that this is the future of the industry which would be helpful in providing ease to the
customers. This industry is highly collaborative and emerging in nature which give
opportunities for the user to try out something new and meet their requirements.
Respondent 2: Respondent 2 have said that self driving is future for automotive industry as this
is associated with various new technologies which are helpful in gaining customer ease and
acquiring their needs.
Respondent 3: Respondent 3 have said that self-driving vehicles are risky and could not be
used by each and every customers. These vehicles are not 100% safe due to customers are not
able to make positive decision for purchasing the same.
Respondent 4: Respondent 4 have said that self driving vehicles will happen in future as these
are laced with huge technologies which makes them highly acceptable for all.
Theme 3. Do you think self- driving HGV will happen?
Respondent 1: This is the dicey decision as HGV are already risky to be driven which means
that involvement of technologies could make it more risky. This is not imperative that HGV
owners will somehow acquire such vehicles in order to meet their needs. This can be said that
as there are certain technologies which are added within self-driving vehicles due to which
functioning can become typical so that could not be used by every person.
Respondent 2: Respondent 2 has said that while driving HGV chances of error are high which
can be minimised using robots and prominent technologies. So that this can be said that with the
help of involving technologies and using self-driving feature these errors can be mitigated so
that uninterrupted experience can be given.
Respondent 3: Respondent 3 have said that HGV are used for transporting of material from
one place to another. The material is high in prices and at the same time non-renewable in
nature. This manner it is not safe to use self-driving technologies in HGV as in the presence of
minor mistake higher consequences will needed to be faced.
Respondent 4: Respondent 4 has said that in order to drive HGV higher precision is needed
which means that no error is acceptable. In this manner usage of self-driving technology within
HGV will lead into minimising of error and at the same time appropriate experience can be
attained.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
Conclusion
It is being concluded from the above information that the development of autonomous
vehicles is the technological advancement which is set to revolutionise the transportation sector.
The self driving truck and lorry technology uses combination of radar, GPS and video cameras.
It helps in achieving level 3 autonomy which is known as conditional driving automation. There
are various benefits of autonomous vehicles such as it improves vehicle safety, enhance driving
condition, faster deliveries, better fuel efficiency and improved maintenance. Autonomous
vehicles reduces the ownership and also have the potential to provide excellent service to public
as it reduces the average waiting time and trip cost. It also encourage people to make additional
trips which increases the emission, VKT and energy used. Autonomous vehicle generally allows
passengers to engage in other activities while travelling and also motivate people to make longer
trips and travel. It also reduce the parking demand which leads to reduce congestion of vehicles
searching for parking space. The use of automation vehicles decreases the energy and emission
use due to smoothing start and stop, platooning effect and reduction in the number engine starts.
Thus, automation vehicles creates a great impact on the heavy driving vehicle as people mainly
demand automation vehicles as compare to normal vehicle. Heavy goods vehicle generally
require more fuel as compare to automation vehicle which creates an impact on the HGV. When
the vehicle is heavier it requires more energy and also increases vehicle rolling resistance. Heavy
goods vehicle affects the surrounding traffic which creates a negative impact on environment.
The automation vehicles become the reality in today's generation as it provides better facility
without any human errors. The use of heavy goods vehicle helps in improving the vehicle safety
as it helps in eliminating the human errors and also enhance driving condition. It also helps in
providing faster deliveries and increase the efficiency as it works all day and all night. The self
driving trucks also influence the heavy goods vehicle by reducing the environmental impact and
cutting down the transportation cost. Thus, it is being analysed that automation vehicle creates a
great influence on the performance and efficiency of heavy goods vehicle.
Recommendations
It is being recommended from above information that there are various challenges which

Recommendations
It is being recommended from above information that there are various challenges which
are faced by people due to automation vehicles such as road conductions, weather condition,

traffic conduction and radar interference. It becomes important for an organisation to create
awareness among people related to automation vehicle so that they can use the vehicle in better
manner. Company must ensure the people that the use of automation vehicle helps in improving
safety and reduce the risk of drivers. Automation vehicle helps in improving the efficiency of
company as they can deliver the goods repeatedly without the need or requirement of human.
Organisation is also responsible for making people aware about the benefits of automation
vehicles including transportation accessibility, reduce traffic congestion, reduce CO2 emission
and also reduces accidents.
