Proposed Title: Impact of conflict management in a working team on the performance
of business organisation. A case study on Diageo.
Section One: Title, objective, responsibilities
Introduction….
This research aims at determining the impact of conflict management in a working team on
the performance of business organisation. Human resource manager is the one who is
responsible for recruitment and selection of the candidates, providing training to he,
conducting performance appraisal programmes, talent management strategies and resolving
conflicts among team. This is the responsibility of HR manger and a leader of a company
to solve conflicts of the team and a person so that there could be positive environment in
the company and business organisation (Kyselov, 2019). If there is a positive and healthy
environment in an organisation then employees will also feel safe and this increases their
productivity and potential of doing their work. Conflict management is now a days more
impotent to solve because it helps the organisation in increasing their productivity and
increasing their employee’s engagement. The organisation considering in this project is
Diageo. It is a public limited company which was founded in the year 1997 by Javier
Ferran. Company is biggest beverage alcoholic brand which is having their headquarter in
London. It is operating in all over the world. It can be about more than 180 countries.
Company is dealing in Alcoholic beverages, beer, spirits and wine. There are about 28,000
employees working currently there and they are having proper and heathy environment at
their working place. In these proposals there is a research aim and objectives. Then there is
a research rationale and then it consists of proper methodology and literature review in
order to conduct there more information.

researcher will be able to get knowledge about conflict management strategies used by the
mangers in order to resolve them. This will help them in their professional and personal
development of the company and this helps them in their near future when they apply for
nay of the job position. By this researcher will be able to enhance their skills and
knowledge and enhance some of the skills like communication skills, leaderships skills and
time management skills. In this researcher he is using primary and secondary research to
collect data and information about the company and their team member. So, for primary
research questionnaire is made and this is to be filled by the employees of Diageo
company. So, this will help them in getting accurate information. and secondary research is
conducted through literature review which helps in enhancing the topic knowledge.
Section Three: Literature review

Determine the importance of conflict management on business performance of
Diageo.
According to McKibben (2020), Conflict occurs when persons have different interests,
opinions, and supposed procedures and are reluctant to co-operation with each other. It is
continuously wise to adapt to some degree and stab to find an answer to the problem, rather
than fighting verbally. Conflict and disagreement will only lead to negativity, and things
will never be concluded. It will only exacerbate tensions and plunge life into hell. In fact, it
drains you and damages your reputation (Conflict management: importance and
implications, 2020). Conflict management plays very significant roe in the organisation as
mangers should have to protect employees from being fighting with each other and
concentrate on their own work. In context of Diageo organisation, the leaders should
ensure what roles and responsibilities all employees have and how they are performing in
most efficient way. If employee is being fighting in all over the time, then they reduce their
energy in conflict and this becomes difficult to perform their task in a given time period.
There can be certain impotence of conflict management at workplace. as by conflict
management, it reduces tensions and employees get more motivated towards their work
and task assigned to them- no person gains from conflicts. Whether it is a speaker or
listener. You should avoid arguing about trivial matters and criticizing colleagues in the
workplace. Conflict management helps to strengthen the connection between staffs and
everyone is willing to assistance each other. Relationships recover and people are
motivated to work composed and struggle for the best results. Nobody likes taking stress
home and feeling neglected in the workplace. Conflict management plays a very significant
part in the workplace because it can avoid pointless fights and make the office a healthier
room to work. Conflict management helps in providing healthy and comparative
environment. as employees must make sure that there should be precautionary caution
should be taken in order to prevent conflicts from being raised at workplace.
Analyses the conflict management strategies used by human resource manager in
managing a team.
From the views of Rivera (2020), Conflict management is considered as an implementation
of process and strategy that helps in reducing conflict among team and the business
environment among employees. There are certain strategies and processes applied by
human resource manager of Diageo organisation to reduce their conflicts among
employees. These strategies are finding a root cause- as there are certain people who are
bully and misrepresents their roles and responsibilities (Conflict Management Strategies
for Easing Workplace Tension, 2020). So, this becomes a cause of conflict among staff
members. Manager of the company fist find the cause of conflicts and then they try to
resolve those conflicts. There is a in this case managers should have to analyse the deep
knowledge and identify those conflicts cannot be raise from a single person but it is to be
because of the working style of the people and policies of organisation. Then another
strategy that can be used is asking right question- as a manager, they have to ask questions
from employees and staff members if here is a conflict as if there is an any issue or
problem related to their leaders and what situation is upsetting you etc. so these questions
Document Page
will help the employees in feeling motivated and looking forwards. So, mangers of the
Diageo organisation, first ask question from the employees so that they could find the
solution to the problem and then try to resolve conflicts. Another strategy use by mangers
at the workplace is that encouraging participation at all the levels- creating a god and
healthy environment is the responsibility of a mangers and this help company in getting
engaged with the employees and resulting achieving their organisational objective and
goals.
From the viewpoint of Aishwarya (2021), Strategy like competing, collaborating,
compromising, avoiding and accommodating strategies are being used in the Diageo
organisation. As the manager of the organisation are using the option of competing at the
time of emergency. Then another strategy of conflict management is collaborating as this is
the best way of looking towards the new solution and reaching to the consensus. Another
strategy is compromising as this aims to find middle ground and focus on the what they
could achieve instead of what they have lost in the conflicts. In this manger focus on
compromising what they have to use (Conflict Management: Strategies, Process and
Techniques, 2021). Next is to avoid- this can be discussed as the most impotent because
some of things should have to be avoid and mangers should have to tell employees that
they should be another tie when they will get chance of being chosen. So, they should
avoid conflicts and this helps them in reducing their conflicts and focusing on their
organisational goals and objectives.
Examine the impact of conflict management in a working team of Diageo.
According to the views of Oden, (2021), conflicts affect organisational and employees in
most effective manner. As it affects low morale. Decreasing in employee’s satisfaction and
their productivity, insubordination, economic loss and fragmentation etc. as for overcome
from these losses, company managers should have to make strategy for resolving the
conflicts among employees and employers and any of the members working in the
company. then they have to focus on management of the conflicts. It is known that conflict
in unavoidable and inevitable. So, the managers should have to use certain strategies of the
conflicts which helps in solving the conflicts in most effective manner. Conflicts
management helps the employees in increasing their performance and resulting in
increasing of their productivity as well. Conflicts raised increases a disagreement between
employers and employees (Conflict Management and Its Impact on Organizational
Performance, 2021). So, they have to be owners and workers. Due to solving in the
conflicts it may leads to the enhancing engagement between employees with each other
and they could even share their opinion with each other. They are resulting in more sharing
of their views and beliefs with each other. Manging conflicts helps the employees in
helping each other in achieving their goals and objectives. Then this also helps them in
solving each other issue and problems and resulting in more engaging with the
organisation. Conflict management can impact in working a team with negatively and
positively. The positive impact which is seen on the working team is that it helps in
building team performance and engaging with the other team members. Then it helps in
performing work together. The negative impacts which are seen of the conflicts

goals by following appropriate and systematic methods (Lin, and et.al., 2021). One of the
main goals of research methods in research is to adjust the efforts of researchers in the
context of achieving research goals and conducting research in a systematic manner in
order to achieve goals in time. It is said that when the appropriate methods are used, it is
very profitable for researchers to gain an advantage from research. A variety of research
approaches can be castoff in surveys to align efforts with survey objectives. This research
considers the research onion framework. The framework comprises different layers, as
follows:
Research philosophy: It is described as a set of actions that have compensations and worth
in research for the development and realization of the research objectives. Besides this, it
also helps to cover all the research activity in an important way. These are phenomena that
help researchers gather knowledge about research topics. In addition, it is also clear as a set
of hypotheses created to obtain the suitability of the investigation. The philosophy of
research is implemented at a primitive level so that it can also guide researchers to develop
proper information and thoughtful. Here are two procedures of research philosophy,
positivism and interpretivism. Interpretive philosophy is related to providing researchers
with this form of recognition, and the general growth can be seen in research. In this
research the positivist research philosophy is used because it helps to obtain in-depth info
on the subject, which will lead to the effective development of the research process. Also,
in this way, the researcher can get the general benefit of the research and thus can directly
and indirectly address the object.
Research approach: it is clear as a research-driven method by means of ideas and outlines
so that politics and values in the inquiry process can be improved. It is said that the
research approach is very significant to achieve the objectives of a survey so that the
overall convenience of research can be achieved (Wu, and et.al., 2021). Inductive and
deductive are two types of research approaches. Deductive approaches involve established
educations as well as hypotheses that can be formulated to achieve the results while
inductive approaches involve observation and research additional helps to achieve research
goals. For this study, the researcher will take a deductive research approach as it helps to
gain in-depth information and vision into the studies developed. Along with this, it also
helps the investigator to gather information in an efficient and timely manner.
Research strategy: It is one of the key parts of the onion research framework that helps
investigators gather data from a variety of sources. At the same time, investigators will
support the collection of information that will help you achieve your research goals and
help you carry out optimal activities. The research strategy is clearly stated as the
collective effort of the researchers in the process of executing the research plan. This
method plays an important role in providing information and data about research themes in
an opportune and real manner. Other forms of research strategy include research, case
studies, and action plans. In this research, the research strategy is used strategically. One of
the main reasons for choosing an investigation strategy is that it helps investigators achieve
in-depth examination so that they can easily achieve their investigation goals in a timely
manner. Laterally with this, investigators can obtain a valid interpretation of relevant
Document Page
information.
Data collection: This section is essentially a subsection of your research strategy, as it
extracts useful information that can help investigators obtain objective information in a
timely manner (Gren, and Lenberg, 2018). All relevant and necessary information related
to the research here is not important to the researcher and can be extracted in an
appropriate manner. This unit has a high level of importance to investigators as the overall
outcome and validity of the investigation depends on it. Two procedures of data collection,
primary and secondary. Current research is used by researchers in both methods and is
connected with research themes that grow positive research results. The primary research
helps to obtain original and direct information, while the secondary research provides
different people's perspectives on the research theme. This is a legal and reliable source of
conclusions.
Time horizons : It is considered to be a feature of the investigation in which a timeline is
assumed for the completion of the investigation. Cross section and longitudinal section are
types of time horizons. In this survey, a transversal time horizon will be practical as it
allows to cover dissimilar sizes at the same time to achieve the research objectives and aim
in the assumed time retro.
Ethical issues: These are concern with the following all ethical issues while conducting a
research. As researcher should be able to follow all ethical things and concerns such as
giving respect to the respondents of there answers which they have given (Slaney, and
Paleo, 2018). They should not do any of the biasness with the answers they’re getting and
there could be proper flow of information and results should be accurate and reliable.
Sampling: This is called the process of choosing each sample to fold info about the
research topic. Moreover, it helps to select a sample size from the entire populace. There
are two types of sampling: probabilistic sampling and non- probabilistic sampling. In this
study, a non- probabilistic sampling method is used to help acquire real-time info related to
the subject. In addition to this, 50 participants selected by this part of random sampling and
stochastic sampling are considered.
Research instruments: they are essentially tools that help to collect data about the
research topic. It is essential for the researcher to choose a suitable research tool to obtain
positive results. Various forms of search aid are questionnaires, interviews, focus groups,
and many others. For this study, the questionnaire will be selected by the interviewer as it
helps to gain in-depth data on the topic and also allows the interviewer to know the
opinions of different persons on a specific topic. This will lead to the development of
primary information that is crucial to achieving the goal of the study.
