INTRODUCTION
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the business sector along with the household
sector, adversely and its impact can be witnessed in the workings of both the sectors. In the
following report, the effects of this pandemic in relation to the economy of United Kingdom, has
been examined and evaluated, through laying down the statistics for this conditions. The
individuals owning a business or those employed as professionals are harshly affected by the
market conditions and as a result the government had to propose various market policies which
are required to favorably impact the workings or internal proceedings of the company. In this
manner, the management of the company or firms can be properly assessed and they will be able
to create integrity in the organizational structure (Natalia, 2020). Furthermore, the following
report helps understand the conditions and circumstances prevailing the country and how the
government is keeping track of the economy, through various policies and acts.

Impact of COVID-19 on the population of United Kingdom
United Kingdom, is defined as the country with first world economic conditions, which
are its prevailing factor in dealing with different kinds of unfavorable situations such as the
COVID-19 pandemic (Mukherjee, 2019). The country has been impacted by the pandemic
adversely, as around 7.6 million individuals who are employed in different types of organizations
or belong with the salaried sector have been negatively impacted by this condition. In other
words, over 24% of the people residing in United Kingdom, have been affected by the pandemic
and may take significant period of time to recover. The people belonging to underdeveloped
places or having lower income are the most vulnerable to this condition and will eventually
impact the overall economic position of the country. In the typical weekend of lockdown, during
the month of May, the economic activity of the nation which could be assessed by the Gross
Domestic Product of the country has been declined with a rough estimation of the downfall at
30% is proposed. Moreover, according to the data provided by the Office of National Statistics
of United Kingdom, almost 20% of the businesses in the country have been temporarily closed or
shut down due to the rules and regulations or provisions applied by the legislation (Oleksiuk,
2022). Along with such statistics, the trading businesses which are still running reported a
downfall in their revenue by 60%, which is unfavorable to the economy of the country as a
whole. This much rapid downfall in the production and manufacturing industry of the nation, has

resulted in lower imports and exports in the country, along with the fact that COVID-19 has led
to restrictions applied by the government in relation to the movement of the natural or man-made
resources (Naveed, 2019). Nearly, 50% of the jobs which are relevant for increment in the
economy are also adversely impacted and as a result the hourly wage rate provided to the
employees or workers for the work they do is also lowered by $10 per hour. The jobs which are
at risk and are most vulnerable to the conditions are under the Blackpool, Stoke-in-tent, Torbay
heads and make 20% of the lowest ranging jobs in the nation. The jobs are adversely impacted
by the pandemic and as a result the government drafted various policies to control the effects,
however, it is not necessary that the restrictions imposed by the legislation are positive and will
benefit the economy, henceforth it is necessary that the government proposes methods to help
impact individuals or businesses positively without any loss to the legislation itself (Pardede,
2020). The safety measures are necessarily to be followed by each and every individual, if the
impact of the pandemic need to be lowered. Businesses’ ability to continue to employ and pay
workers might be particularly precarious when government support starts to be withdrawn. It
must be noted that even after the ill-effects of the pandemic the businesses who temporarily or
permanently closed their business were less than 1%.

Due to the impact of the pandemic on United Kingdom, the country has to concentrate on
various policies which will help the economy in controlling the cases (Parra, 2019). However,
the continuous increment in the COVID-19 cases, the nation has faced shortage on the
medicines, hospital beds, oxygen cylinders, medical equipment and other relevant items which
are required for the patients. Due to this catastrophic situation arising in the country, the
population is not able to get proper treatment for the disease. As previously mentioned, the

pandemic has left the country damaged henceforth the various resources which are available to
the economy, cannot be utilized properly.
Impact of COVID-19 on the Unemployment
Employment is considered as the most crucial and beneficial aspect of an individual’s life
and need to managed adequately. Not only benefitting the nation, but also favorably influence
the national income of the country. During the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the
lockdown was applied in the country, which dramatically effected the labor market of in March
2020 (Restrepo, 2018). A significant decrease in the employment, unemployment rates has been
witnessed all over the country, number of employed individuals fell down by 825000 during
January month and October – December 2020, while the number of unemployed people
increased to 400000. Furthermore, the legislation proposed critically drafted policies which are

CONCLUSION
The following report presents the analysis of how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected
United Kingdom and other relative aspects of the country (Bartomole, 2022). It also examines
the problems faced by the individuals residing in the country and as a result the household along
with the business sector had to witness losses by significant margin. Furthermore, the report
includes all of the data which has been analyzed for understanding how and up to what extent the
country has been affected by the Ukraine war and the pandemic. Also, the positive together with
the negative impacts of the online learning platforms have been assessed through proper
observation of how the concept of online learning is influencing the individuals of United
Kingdom.
