RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY
Qualitative research
Qualitative searches is identified as a scientific approach of observation in order to
collect non-numerical information. It is used to gain a detail understanding of underlying
opinions, reasons and motivations (Dhaliwal and et. al., 2012). There are main steps and
different methods of qualitative research which are explained as under:
Process of qualitative research: There are some steps which are important in order to
completing qualitative research. Stages are determined as under:
Determine Research Questions
Design the Study
Collect Data
Analyse Data
Generate Findings
Validate findings Report
Approaches to reliability and Validity: Reliability: It is introduce to the consistency of a measure. There are some approaches to
reliability such as Test-Retest Reliability, Internal Consistency and Interrater Reliability.
All these are consistent of people's perception and response across the components on a
multiple-item measure.

Validity: Such type of research can be determined as a level at which needs of scientistic
method of research have been applied during the procedures of collecting research
findings. There are different approaches of validity research such as content validity,
construct validity, criterion-related validity, internal validity, concurrent validity, external
validity and face validity (Eberle, Berens and Li, 2013).
Sampling: It is identified as a process of selecting units from a large number population
of interest. There are mainly two types of sampling method such as probability and Non-
probability. In case of probability sampling, researcher select random sampling method in order
to create a sample. Under non-random activities like investigator convenience or judgement
sampling. In this case, researcher will use probability sampling because it develop samples that
are extremely representative of the units without the requirement for a random number maker.
Sample Size: It is refer as an act of selecting the amount of replicates or observations to
cover in a statistical sample. It is most essential and important part in the research in which
investigator select sample size. In this, selected sample size is 30 respondents which is chosen
with the use of sample random method.
Data Collection method: For collecting accurate and relevant amount of information,
there are two essential methods such as primary and secondary. Under secondary source,
researcher will be made questionnaire which is useful in gaining proper data from the
respondents. In case of secondary source, researcher need to use different books, journals and
magazines to gather accurate data (Farooq and et. al., 2014).
Variables specifications: This part of the research method is based on two variables one
is dependent and second one is independent. In this, research topic performance of
Commonwealth Bank is independent variables which is depend on CSR.
Quantitative research
This type of research is applied to measure the issue by way of collecting numerical
information that can be changed into usable statistics (Ioannou and Serafeim, 2015). There are
different methods and process of quantitative research which are shown as under:
Process of quantitative research design: There are different states which are includes in
the process of quantitative research design. These are determined as under:
State the research problem
Define the purpose of the study

Research Instrument: There are mainly two types of research instrument in quantitative
research i.e. Validity and Reliability. Under validity, it is a level to which an instrument identify
what it is intent to measure (Garay and Font, 2012). In case of reliability, it is refer as an internal
stability or consistency of the evaluating device over time duration.
Quantitative data analysis process: It is identify as a systematic approach and method to
research during which numerical information is gathered. Quantitative information analysis may
cover the measurement of frequencies of variables and variation between variables. Qualitative
data analysis is refer as a process of cleansing, inspecting, modelling and transforming
information with the aim of discovering useful data, informing conclusions and assisting
decision making.
Interviewing and questionnaire design: Questionnaire is identified as a structured tool
for gathering primary information in a marketing survey. In addition, it is a series of verbal or
written questions for which is selected respondents gives answers. In case of quantitative
interviewing, it is similar to qualitative interviews method in that they they consist some
respondents or researcher interaction.
Qualitative and quantitative are essential research method for collecting accurate amount
of information. But in this case qualitative research is suitable and significant because it provide
in-depth examination of phenomena and use subjective information. There are different methods
which are the main part of qualitative research such as sample size, random sampling method,
questionnaire and primary resources. All these are useful for gathering accurate and relevant
amount of data from the selected respondents.
RESEARCH LIMITATIONS
There are so many limitations which are noticed at the period of executing the research
study in systematic manner. Beside this, time is identify one of the main limitation in this topic.
Research aim is vast and for accumulating the response, particular time period is needed. So in

the entire it can be supposed that time is not maximum for the all activities of research ( Grayson
and Hodges, 2017).
