This is an era of digitalisation and hence its usage has crossed every boundary. In
education field also digitalisation has played a major role (TECH&LEARNING, 2018). Apart
from this there are many kinds of technologies that have evolved which is helping students to
learn from the vast extent of sources like internet. Communication medium has advanced so
much that students do not have to reach to some of the institutions for availing particular kind
of knowledge. One of the most used sources for gaining education is blogging by experts.
The role of digital media has immensely increased in the case of learning that students can
get.
Role of digital media in learning
There are various kinds of digital media sources that can be utilised for learning. It
has facilitated individuals to gain many kinds of knowledge easily while they are in any part
of the world. These media sources are highly interactive and help to learn in innovative
manner (Learning and Teaching, 2018). There are various kinds of digital media sources that
are available for students to learn. One of the most used sources is social media. It has helped
students to interact with the experts living in any other part of the world. These media sources
have extensive capacity of engaging students as they present an entirely new view to the
learning. For example a student who was unable to attend a lecture can go to these sites and
can gather knowledge from it.
Since there are many kinds of multimedia formats that are available this helps students to
easily grab the concepts. Learning through digital media sources has become easier with the
involvement of mobile communication sources. One of the most underlining benefits of this
is that a student can access to these sources as many times as people want that can help them
to completely understand the concepts which was not possible in the traditional learning
methodologies (Buckingham, 2013, pp. 50-60). This helps in enhancing the understanding of
students which is the major objective of any kind of learning process. It has no time
constraints that students need to be available at any particular time. This enhances the
effectiveness of the whole learning experience as they can access it whenever they are willing
to.
With the increasing influence of digital media in our daily lives this kind of learning plays a
very crucial role since they give many types of knowledge which was previously not easy to

gather (Parsons and Taylor, 2011, pp. 30-46). This has also reduced the cost of learning as the
rates of internet throughout the world have gone down and people can take use of any of it for
accessing large amount of document without facing a problem of storage. They are highly
useful in training processes.
One of the best examples of digital media that is highly successful is Apps. There are many
kinds of learning Apps that is used by the students to enhance the learning. These Apps have
the capacity to handle various kinds of multimedia format learning materials. They are used
for making many kinds of interaction which can be beneficial for understanding the concepts
more clearly. Apart from this there are several kinds of interactive sessions that are available
in these kinds of Apps that is highly used by students for purpose of learning complicated
things. It is also useful in sharing links that can be used by people to learn new things. These
links helps to gather information that is available on some other sites which can be more
beneficial (Gikas and Grant, 2013, pp.18-26).
Social media is another useful multimedia site that is used by the students for their Earning
process. It’s most important role is in the form of creating a student network that can be
utilised for sharing various kinds of knowledge among themselves. This can be an effective
approach in making the learning process simpler as well as more collaborative (Lai, 2011,
pp. 15-30). This kind of learning helps in having higher standards of learning experience.
Social media is one of the best platforms where the information is shared at a very faster rate.
The only complication attached to it is that there is larger amount of data that is available on
these sites and authentication of data is a big question.
There are several kinds of benefits to these digital media sources. Some of them are as
follows:
 These reduce the burden of carrying heavy books for instant learning. Very large
amount of data is available in a very compressed space and with the introduction of
cloud computing software, this becomes further easier.

outcomes as compared to that of traditional learning methodologies (Livingstone,
2012, pp.9-24).
 Learning materials are found in various formats which helps students in having high
dimensional learning experience.

 This enhances readability as many kinds of interactive learning processes are
available as compared to that of traditional ways where there is only one format for
learning.
 These sites are highly beneficial in taking knowledge as many times as possible since
there is no particular limitation on how many times a data can be accessed.
 One of the most essential benefits is that it enhances mobility as people can access
learning material from any place on their devices with the use of internet.
 It is beneficial in understanding the amount of knowledge gathered by the students as
any time test can be conducted. This gets easier with the use of Apps.
 It does not only provide local learning rather it provides global learning experience
which is highly important in the competitive educational environment (Tess, 2013,
pp.A60-A68).
 Twitters can be used for taking guidance from the scholars all around the world as
they can suggest many things which can be of higher use.
CONCLUSION
From the above based report it can be concluded that digital media has become one of
the best place from where data can be collected and is highly helpful in enhancing the
capacity of data that a student can access without having space limitations. Digital media
sources helps in increasing the mobility of learning as people can access the learning
materials from any place.
