Introduction/ Background
Equality and diversity can be termed as promotion of equal opportunities to diverse
individual that are working in organisation so that they can make optimum utilisation of their
capabilities and skills for growth and success of firm. It is legal responsibility of HR manager to
ensure that no one should be discriminated on basis of gender, age, caste and religion within
workplace. Effective management of equality and diversity within organisation helped in
improving performance and productivity of employees and overall achievements of goals.

Limitation of the study
Scope of report is limited as Equality and diversity in workplace have been conducted of
Walmart only that means it have not researched about the different organisation. Therefore it can
be stated that research have narrow and limited approached it can be useful for Walmart to
known about method that it can used to improve its workplace (Partington, 2019). Due to
limitation of time, money researcher was not able to effective analysing and evaluating equality
and diversity within Walmart so that effective strategies can be formulated by Hr manager to get
best outcome.

Concept of discrimination at workplace of an organisation
As per view of (Ali and Konrad, A. M., 2016) concept of discrimination among
employees in the workplace have been emerged since many years that have resulted in
ineffective performance of organisation. There are some organisation in which HR manager
discriminate between employees on basis of distribution of opportunities so that they can grow
and develop new skills and knowledge. Many employees are discriminated within workplace on
basis of genders such as unequal pay or over time work that leads to dissatisfaction among
employees. It can be stated that individual have been exploited within organisation on various
factors that have lead to more employment turnover, increase in chance of absentees and
decrease in overall performance and productivity of individual. Therefore government have
make strict law, rules and regulation such as equality act, Equal wages so that no harm can be
caused to employees that are working in the organisation.
Impact of workplace discrimination over working and performance of employees in Walmart
As noted by (Novy and Weinzierl, C., 2019) discrimination within workplace of Walmart
have adversely impacted on performance of employees as it lead to dissatisfaction. HR manager
by discriminating among employees have increase chance of conflict and lead to ineffective
coordination of efforts to different individual towards common goals. Most of the employees are
not willing to work with such company that does not take active part to provide equal
opportunities to all to use their capabilities and skills for growth and success of organisation.
Therefore it can be stated that discrimination among employees can impact on brand image,
quality of products and services manufactured by company and loss of highly skilled and
talented employees within organisation.

As illustrated by (Scott-Baumann and et.al., 2019) there are various method that can be
used by HR manager of walmart to reduce inequality and discrimination among employees so
that particular outcome can be gained. Firstly leaders need to understand view, ideas and opinion
of each employee while taking decision so that they can be motivated to put their best for growth
and success of firm. HR manager while hiring, planning for growth and development of
employees need not to discriminate on terms of gender, age, sex and caste in order to maintain

qualitative method to conduct research on equality and diversity so that evidence such as data,
graph can be given to make research valid.
Research Philosophy: It analysis the way various data, facts and figure have been analysed and
utilised to effectively understand appropriate result or outcomes. It is sub categorised into three
parts such as:
Interpretivism: It state that research interpret data, information as per its area of interest and
knowledge in order to understand meaning of specific information.
Positivism: Logical reasoning and knowledge have been used to effectively understand
particular data therefore have more evidence and proof behind data researched.
Realism: This theory explains real data as it is based on existing object so researcher have

desired information. On the other hand secondary method includes use of books, journal and
article or magazine to find accurate and reliable information. The research have made by use of
both primary and secondary sources to conduct research on equality and diversity within
workplace.
Sampling: It is process in which specific or particular group is select from large number of
individual to get sample of particular information. Probability sampling includes selection of
random individual whereas in Non-probability people that have specific skills are selected to
collect information (Scott-Baumann and et.al., 2019). Researchers have used random sampling
Probability method of 50 workers of Walmart to know about discrimination among employees.
Data analysis: Thematic and statistical are two methods for data analysis such as thematic data
are used to understand quantitative information. On the other hand Statistical data are used to
understand qualitative data so report has used this method for effective research.
Ethical consideration: All ethical practices have been considered by me while making or

team for achievement of common objectives. Therefore it can be stated that Equality and

It can be concluded from above report that there are numerous benefits of maintain
equality and diversity within workplace so HR manager need to take various crucial steps so chat
employees can be stay positive and motivated to put their best for growth and success of
organisation such as:
1. HR manager need to ensure that leader of Walmart need to take view of each individual
while taking decision so that feeling of belongingness can be created and they are
influenced to work more hard so that objectives can be achieved.
2. Social media or innovative technologies can be use by HR manager to rewards and
recognise or promote employees that have work hard in previous years so that company
can earn maximum profit margin.

While making Research I have learnt a lot of things such as importance of equality and
diversity within organisation and what crucial steps that needs to be taken by each manager so
that equality and diversity can be retained. I have learnt research skills and the way data can be
collected and analysed so that particular result can be gathered. The report has enhance my
communication and knowledge skills about keys areas that need to be considered by HR
manager to retained maximum satisfaction of employees and achieve specific goals. I have also
get to know that if HR manager need to retained high skilled and talent employees within
organisation it should not be biases or discriminate among employees. I was able to make
effective utilisation of internet and innovative technologies that can be used by me in future
career to manage my task or activities. At the same time I got to know about different method
