Introduction
The mental health involves the emotional, social and the psychological well-being. The
changes in the mental health affects the way a person think, a person feel and a person act. The
mental health helps to determine how a person can handle stress, can relate to others and also the
make choices. The mental health is important at every stages of life starting from the childhood,
to the adolescents to the adults. If a person is suffering from mental health problems then the
thoughts of the person, mood and behaviour are effected very much. Many factors which
contribute to the problems related to mental health are biological factors like the genes or the
chemistry of the brain, different life experiences like the trauma or abuses or any family history
of mental health diseases. Mostly the young adults are affected from the mental health but if
proper education is given to the youth at proper time then they can be cured from the mental
health problems. This topic is very important because this can become a serious consequence in
future if it is not controlled at present.
Search question
What is the impact of the education on the awareness related to mental health among the
young adults?
Search summary
An online research was conducted in PubMed, CINHAL and Medline for finding the
research papers. The research papers were found by using some key words, the key words that
were used for finding the research papers were mental health problems, impact of education,
young adults and awareness. So many papers were found but not all papers were suitable for this

literature review purpose. So only few of them were selected for doing this work which were
found appropriate for this research work.
Summary of evidence
The study was completed based on the components of how the young adults are effected
means the causes of the mental health, the issues that the patients are creating because of the
mental problems. The findings or the search items are –

Critical review
According to Medya et al., (2014), if proper education is given to the breast feeding
young women, them the rate of the breastfeeding the child increases. The new mothers normally
need mental support and as most of the women do not get the mental support are not able to feed

their child properly. The aim of this experiment was to determine the effectiveness of the
intervention if ‘milky way’ on the rates of the breastfeeding till six months. The participants of
this experiment were young women of age 19 who wanted to breastfed their child. The
intervention of the ‘milky way’ programme included theories involving the breast feeding
techniques and also the psychology of the mothers. The intervention included three classes and
also it included different home learning activities. Out of 519 women, only 420 women were
eligible to take part in the experiment. Some women were excluded from taking part in the
experiment because of miscarriages or like any other reasons. Among the participants some were
help in the standard group while the rest were kept in the intervention group. A non-randomised,
evaluation design, was conducted for doing this experiment. The intervention of the ‘milky way’
involved mainly three activities – group discussions, the participants were allowed to take home
the learning activities and also post natal telephonic consultants for supporting the breast feeding.
The intervention was provided to the participants along with the standard care also. The result
was very effective as it showed that it showed that the group of the ‘milky way’ showed higher
rates of breastfeeding as compared to the standard group. The result of the secondary analysis
was also equally positive for the group whose participants got the ‘milky way’ training
programme. The authors describe the description part clearly by stating that the increment rate of
the breastfeeding in the intervention group was 33%. The rate of the success of the ‘milky way’
intervention was measured in terms of quality, duration, quantity and timing of the strategies of
the intervention. The authors have been able to clearly focus on the interventions which can
increase the rate of the breastfeeding among the young women. The strength of this paper is that
this paper has clearly and appropriately mentioned the increment rate of the breastfeeding
women among young women. The result of this experiment was quite satisfying and this result

can easily be used in future for conducting any further experiments. The research of this
experiment can be used for further implication in future researches. The authors also
recommended the managers, educators, midwives, nurses and other different health professionals
to apply this ‘milky way’ programme for the purpose of supporting women. Leaving these
positives of the experiment the experiment has some limitations also, the study was conducted in
two groups, it may happen that there may be a change in the standard care of the participants
which would have hampered the claim of the experiment. Another limitation was that if it
included more theories about how to support more the participants mentally.
According to Jumisko, Lexell & Söderberg, S. (2009), people suffering from traumatic
brain injury if get proper mental support from the family members, doctors or the nurses then the
patient may feel secured and will get improved early. The aim of this experiment was elucidation
of the meaning of feeling well for those people suffering from moderate to severe brain injury.
The research was done for the purpose of improving the quality of life and the well-being of the
people suffering from traumatic brain injury. The patient will feel the changes in the well-being
and also in the health conditions if they get proper support from the family members, the doctors
and the nurses. The study design of this study is a qualitative research approach. According to
the authors, the experiences of a person cannot be transferred to other persons but the meaning of
the experience can be transferred. The participants were selected in such a way that only those
persons were involved who only sustained the medium traumatic brain injury. The feelings of the
patients were analysed by arranging interviews for the participants. The answers for each and
every questions were recorded. The interviewer noted the answers of each and every questions
upon which the next question was made. The results showed that sustaining the traumatic brain
injury meant that deemed to have broken down for the people having TBI. Feeling well for the

patients suffering from traumatic brain injury seemed in demanding courage, perseverance and
lot of energy. After analysing the results of the interview it was found that the patients
themselves have confessed that their life have changed since they were suffering from the injury.
They said that they also wanted to feel good and also wanted to enjoy the life. The authors have
described that the patients gets accustomed with the unfamiliar life that the patients get familier.
This could be proposed that feeling well with the patients of TBI normally gets mixed up with
the circumstances of their life. The participants emphasised that the feeling of the well-being was
their own that no one else could understand this. Finally the participants agreed that it is possible
for them to start their life again and they can take control over their everyday life. The limitations
of this paper lie on the ground of the number of participants. The number of the participants were
not mentioned in the experiment.
According to Zhu et al., (2007), intensive rehabilitation can improve the functional
outcomes of the patients suffering from traumatic brain injury. The objective of this experiment
was to do the evaluation of the effects of the increase in the functional outcomes of those patients
who have suffered from traumatic brain injury. The authors had said that rehabilitation is no
doubt effective with patients who are suffering from traumatic brain injury but so many things
are there which are needed to be controlled. The design of the experiment was a randomised
control trial in which the patients were grouped under two groups and two of the groups received
different levels of rehabilitation. The patients of the control group received only just 2 hours of
therapeutic training and those of the intervention group received 4 hours of training. The authors
analysed the description part very clearly. The authors described that if the time of the
rehabilitation gets increased then the functional outcome of the patients also gets improved. It is
proved from this experiment. The more the rehabilitation time increases, the more the patients

have chances to improve their health conditions both physically and mentally and more quickly
the patient can move to the normal life style. However the limitation of this experiment is that
the rehabilitation activities could not improve the other functional activities like the cognitive
development. This results of this research work can be used in future researches, especially in the
researches relating to the brain and traumatic diseases.
Impact
The result and the data that are obtained from these research papers are quite valid
according to the recent practices. Mental health problems has become an issue in the recent days.
After analysing these three papers it can be concluded that if proper mental support is provided
to the patients then, they can get cured of the mental problems. In the case of the breastfeeding
mother, it is seen that the rate of the breastfeeding is increased a lot after providing the new
mothers with proper education. The mentality of the mothers have changed regarding the
techniques of breastfeeding. Similarly in the cases of the traumatic brain injury, the mental health
support and the rehabilitation has proved to be very effective but a large literature gap exists in
all these research papers. None of the authors bothered much about the description of the
previous studies or the previous literatures. Reviewing previous literatures are very important as
before commencing one experiment it is very important to know about the past researches. The
authors should have discussed about the limitations of the past researches.
Synthesis
The research papers that were used in doing this research are of very high quality. As
already mentioned the papers were found after doing severe researches on this topic. All of these
papers involved participants who are young adults as the research question of this topic involved

young adults only. The new ideas that arose from this research work are that proper education
and proper mental support if provided to the patients suffering from mental problems, can
improve the health of the patients. The family members and the doctors play an important role in
the well-being of the patients, especially, the young adults. If proper education are not given to
the patients suffering from mental health problems then the disease can become serious in future
and it is very difficult to cure the severity of the disease. Apart from the different medicinal
treatments provided to the patients, the mental support and proper education are also required
additionally. These boost up the treatment procedures of the patients and thus the patient gets
treated early.
