Summary
Organisations today operate in a competitive and dynamic environment. To be
relevant in the current market, they have to constantly adapt to the ever varying environment.
Empowerment of employees is one of the methods that are put in place by organisations to
retain, attract as well as improving their performance.
The study is focused on the impact of empowerment of employees to the level of job
satisfaction. In Ghana’s education system, specifically the study is aimed in understanding
the impact of provision of equipments’ and tools to employees, their involvement in decision
making, training and monetary compensation on the level of employee job satisfaction (Choi
et.al, 2016).
A descriptive research design was adopted to target organisation with 100 or more
employees. Data is to be collected by use of questionnaires using a drop and pic method.
Analysis of the data will use both inferential and descriptive statistics. The study concluded
there was a strong correlation between employee empowerment and enhancement of job
satisfaction. The study recommended empowerment of employee in order to have a
competitive advantage in the market.
Literature review
Empirical studies that have been undertaken have described that employee
empowerment is a significant forecaster of job satisfaction (Fernandez & Moldogaziev,
2015). Rana and singh in 2016 carried out a study in the IT industry of India that was to
determine the linkage between employee empowerment and job satisfaction. The study
involved 475 employees in a period of eight months which concluded that employee
empowerment contributed heavily on job satisfaction.
In Pakistani service industry, Akbar, yousaf and Hunjara in 2011, undertook a study
on worker empowerment and job satisfaction which included 200 respondents. The results

were that worker empowerment had a significant effect on job satisfaction (Hanaysha &
Tahir, 2016).
Mushipe in 2011 carried out a study in Zimbabwe using a worker participation model
that emphasized on decision making, sharing of power and sharing of information. The
outcome was that the empowerment of workers had a positive effect on job satisfaction.
Orute, mutual, masida, and aside investigated on the effect of the style of management on job
satisfaction which entailed 93 respondents. The conclusion of the study was that the style of
management had a significant impact on job satisfaction (Kong, Sun & Yan,2016).
Research Study Details
Purpose of the study
The aim of the study was determining the impact of employee empowerment in
enhancing their job satisfaction in Ghana’s education system.
Research questions
These were directed to employees in various sectors of Ghana’s education system.
i. Did the availability of tools and equipment’s make you more comfortable in your
job?
ii. Was your involvement in making decisions pertaining you job make you feel more
involved with your job?
iii. Did an increment of your compensation make you want to stay more in your current
job?
Significance of the study
The findings of this study will contribute to the existing knowledge in the topic of
study, it will further show the importance of employee empowerment in Ghana’s education
system so as to enhance job satisfaction. A healthy nation, in the long run, is beneficial to the
economy of a country.

The study is meant to provide knowledge to leaders in Ghana’s education system on
the ways of employee empowerment and their benefits to the education system of the
country. It advocates in the retention of qualified employees who will help the education
sector achieves its set objectives.
Methodology
This study will entail the mixed research design to conduct this study because this research
design entails characteristics of both research design qualitative and quantitative research
design. Under the qualitative research design, non- numerical information related to research
concern would be attained by the researcher Hanaysha, J., & Tahir, P. R. (2016). Further,
quantitative research design would be utilized by the research scholar to evaluate the views
and opinions of research participants with respect to the impact of employee empowerment
in enchasing the employee job satisfaction level in the education system of Ghana.
Apart from this, it is also evaluated that Research scholar will imply a random sampling
technique to choose the research candidate for performing the research study effectively.
Under this sampling, respondents would be chosen randomly as it would provide a similar
opportunity to all research participants for giving their view and opinion related to the
research matter. Consequently, biases could be eliminated from the research study. In order
to this, research scholar would choose 50 employees who are working in the education
system. Investigator would apply MS-excel software program to demonstrate the data by
using pie charts, column chart and bar diagram.
