INTRODUCTION
In current market conditions, the businesses are facing critical issue that impact the
overall outcome in diverse manner. It has been noticed that global market conditions are crating
great competition for the businesses. In order to deal with these kinds of aspects the businesses
need to focus on improvement in performance so that goals and objectives can be accomplished
in desired manner (Jackson, Schuler and Werner, 2011). Employees plays a key role in
organizational performance so companies are focused towards improvement in morale of
workforce. In this respect, motivational techniques are being accessed by management so that
goals and objectives can be accomplished.
Motivation is considered as most critical aspect and it forces members to have working in
accurate manner so that overall performance can be improved. With an assistance of motivation
the overall productivity of business entity can be advanced. If employees are motivated and
having effective operations then it will influence the organizational success in diverse manner
(Bohlander and Snell, 2006). It also assist in creating positive work culture so that goals and
objectives can be achieved. Employee motivation also assist in improving the ratio of employee
retention. It make employees feel valuable that forces them to have efforts in impressive manner.
Key reason behind the selection of topic is that businesses are attracted to use motivation
techniques so through current study impact on overall performance can be analysed in desired
manner. Along with this, it also provides an understanding about motivational factors that allows
employees to have effort in desired way (Harzing and Pinnington, 2010). Present study will
focus on analyse the impact of employee motivation on the performance of the company. Tesco
Plc is considered as one of leading retail organization in global market. It is one of key reason
behind the selection of organization. Moreover, company is also focused towards advancement
of morale to improve performance that also provide better support to the existing investigation.
Aim: Key motive behind the present study is to have evolution of impact of employee motivation
on the performance of Tesco.

LITERATURE REVIEW
As per the view of Pareek (2006), it can be said that motivation is considered as
theoretical construct which assist in identification of employee behaviour. It assist in leading
business towards impressive level of success and improve overall performance in diverse
manner. Motivation is considered as one of critical aspect that helps in advancement of
efficiency to accomplish desired goals and objectives. Motive is defined as a technique which
assist individual to act in a particular manner. Flamholtz (2012) has stated that by advancing the
morale of workforce the business firm can have sustainable opportunities so that goals and
objectives can be accomplished. If management is offering better facilities to the members then
overall performance get improved. It is because it directly links with the employee perception.
Motivation is referred as cycle that allows to have direct influence on the work behaviour among
employees.
METHODOLOGY
In present study, descriptive research design will be used so that in-depth information in
regard to subject can be gathered. It will assist in analysing the impact of motivation on
performance. Qualitative techniques of data collection and interpretation will be adopted by
researcher. Questionnaire will be designed to accomplish primary data collection (Golafshani,
2003). Online, books and other sources will provide support to secondary data collection.
Thematic technique of data analysis will be employed by investigator. Responses will be taken
from 30 employees of Tesco PLC in order to meet key goals and objectives.
RESOURCES REQUIRED
There are various sources that are required for accomplishment of the study.
Classification can be as finance, human resource, etc. Number of secondary sources are available
that demands an extra pay to access information. For data collection and interpretation the
availability of human resource is also critical. By having improved focus on such aspects the
objectives of investigation can be accomplished in desired way.

assistance of motivation the overall performance can be improved. It has been noticed that key
rationale behind the selection of topic is that employees plays a key role in organizational
performance so companies are focused towards improvement in morale of workforce. In this
respect, motivational techniques are being accessed by management so that goals and objectives
can be accomplished. By having improved focus on the study the impact of motivation on
employee performance can be understand effectively. Another rationale behind the study is that

objectives.
LITERATURE REVIEW
According to Krompf (2007), there are diverse kinds of motivation that need to be
referred by management. Classification of methods can be as intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.
It has been noticed that extrinsic motivation is related to the personal needs of employee and
intrinsic is associated with the organizational performance. In order to meet objectives, company
need to focus on both kinds of motivation techniques. (Knowles, Holton and Swanson (2014)
has stated that number of motivational theories are present that are being adopted by business
entity for sustainable development. Maslow and Herzberg are two key motivational aspects that
allows to meet objectives. It is significant for business entity to make sure that safety and
security measures are well maintained so that morale of workforce can be advanced in desired
way. Self-recognition also enhances the motivation among employees and lead business firm to
impressive level of success. Along with this, by creating a better work environment the business
entity may accomplish objectives. Grohmann and Kauffeld (2013) has contended that impact of
motivation on overall performance is also critical. It has been noticed that if employees are
motivated then they will perform more effectively in order to meet goals and objectives. In order
to enhance the morale, company also need to offer specific reward policies without any kind of
discrimination so that goals and objectives can be accomplished. Flamholtz (2012) has asserted
that advanced level of morale allows businesses to have smooth operations so that sustainable
opportunities can be advanced. Organization will also be able to increase their sale, turnover and
profitability by having improved focus on motivation aspects.
METHODOLOGY
For effective accomplishment of the objective the inductive approach has been adopted
by researcher. It allows to have effective development of the study according to research
questions. With an assistance of this, study can be carried out in desired manner. Along with
this, qualitative aspects are being considered as critical aspect that helps in effective
consideration of objectives. It means by having assistance of this, the analysis of impact of
employee motivation on the performance of Tesco can be taken into account (Dey, 2002).
Descriptive research design also assist in gathering in-depth information about the subject so that

FINDINGS AND ANALYSIS
Theme 1: Employee motivation helps in boosting the productivity of the employees
As per detailed study, it can be said that responses are being taken into account from 30
respondents. It has been noticed that employee motivation helps in boosting the productivity of
the employees. 20 employees of Tesco has said that overall productivity can be advanced by
having proper use of motivational techniques. In addition to this, it can be said company can
have changes in its motivation policies so that morale of workforce can be advanced in desired
manner. Only 10 of employees are not agreed with the statement.
Theme 2: Non monetary rewards help in enhancing commitment towards company
Responses has been taken into account and it has been analysed that non-monetary
rewards helps in advancing the commitment towards company. In addition to this, it can be said
that out of 30 respondents the 19 of them has stated that by having improved focus on non
reward policies the business entity will have improvement in company performance. On the
other side, it can be said that 8 of members are not agreed with the statement. It might affect the
overall outcome in desired manner. In order to have proper use of non monetary reward policies
the business entity need to improve standards.
Theme 3: Monetary rewards aids in gaining high performance from employees
It has been noticed in the survey that the monetary rewards aids in gaining high
performance from employees. By having improved focus on the study, it has been identified that
19 of members has said that monetary rewards are more helpful as compared to non monetary
because it assist in meeting key objectives. On the other side, it can be said that 7 of members are
not in the support of monetary policies. It indicates that management can have improvement in
its standards so that goals and objectives can be accomplished in desired way.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
As per above study, it can be concluded that there are diverse kinds of motivation that need
to be referred by management. Classification of methods can be as intrinsic and extrinsic
motivation. It has been noticed that extrinsic motivation is related to the personal needs of
employee and intrinsic is associated with the organizational performance. It has been noticed that
motivational tools are beneficial to advance the morale that also helps in improving overall
performance.
It can be recommended that organization needs to plan motivation in accordance with the
level at which the employees are performing. It is necessary for business firm to make sure that
motivational techniques are being applied effectively so that goals and objectives can be
accomplished in desired way. Other than this, it can also be recommended that for better
understanding of the subject the further research can be carried out. Investigation on role of
motivation on employee performance will also be evaluated in desired way.
