2IMPACT OF BEHAVIORAL SAFETY ON EMPLOYEE SAFETY
Literature Review
Behavioral safety keeps the management team and the employees updated about the
safety in the organization by observing behavior of their colleagues or peer groups. By
observing the behavior of oneself and of their colleague helps to ensure employee safety in
the organization (Lutchman, Ghanem & Maharaj, 2016). Various research have been
conducted on different industries to figure out the harassment faced by employees in their
workplace and the impact of behavior safety on wellbeing of an employee. A researcher
identifies that a proper behavioral safety approach will help in reducing the workplace
harassment faced by employees. Understanding the human behavior, organizational culture
and workplace psychology will help in proper implementation of the behavioral safety
approach (Beus, McCord & Zohar, 2016). One research study identifies the organization
culture in which harassment takes place, the attitudes of the harasser and the harasse and the
policies developed by that organization to prohibit harassment. It mentions that practice of
safety behavior leads to excellent work culture (Cooper, 2015). Another researcher identifies
the extent and number of times different employees were harassed in their workplace. The
result shows that 63.3% of the total employees involved in the research faced frequent
harassment. It has been found that by applying behavior based safety approach the
management has been able to save lives, earn more revenue and increase productivity
(Avram, Ionescu & Mincu, 2015).
