Topic: “To evaluate the impact of globalisation on the management and
operation of a multinational organisation”. A research work on Bentley.
1. INTRODUCTION
Background of project
Globalisation is a broad term that has facilitated both positive as well as negative impacts
and influence on organisation. Globalisation is a process that is mainly associated with the
increase in the spread of technology, products, information, employment and other business
operations across the various nations beyond the boundaries of domestic borders and cultures.
Thus, globalisation has facilitated more interdependence and better integration among nations
and economies through fostering free trade at global level (Olimpia and Stela, 2017). The
positive impact of globalisation includes better expansion opportunity and reach to latest and
more efficient technology advancement. On the other hand negative impacts of globalisation
includes enhancement in competition level that lead to increase in administration and operating
cost of multinational organisation. Thus, it can be evaluated that globalisation has lead to
efficient impact on management and operation of a multinational organisation as various steps
and strategies are made by organisation to meet and handle these impacts and influence of
globalisation.
Rationale of research
The research topic selected for this dissertation is rational and justifiable as it associated
with the impacts of globalisation that is creating significant impact and influence on operations
of an international organisation. Thus, the current research topic is affective in evaluating the
major impacts of globalisation on business management so that suitable steps and strategies can
be formed by organisation to grab all possible opportunities and overcome threats (Winterton,
2016). Thus, selection of this topic on impacts of globalisation is justifiable as facilitates better
success and more viability for a multinational organisation through providing better
understanding about impacts of globalisation on business operations and management. Apart

the over all changes and demands in global world. It has been also evaluated that the explosion
of foreign direct investment has increased the process and scope of concept of globalization
therefore, has made the markets more integrated and connected with each other in a better way.
Beside this, the level of capital and finance in the national and international market is also
expected to increase by the process of globalisation and thus, the concept of globalisation has
made it easier to handle international trade transaction and processes (Wehrmeyer and
Mulugetta, 2017). Thus, it can be evaluated that concept of globalisation is associated with the
increase in the integration and interdependence among various culture and economies at global
level that has enhanced the phase of international trade and expansion of business operations.
To evaluate the various ways in which globalisation has created an impact and influence on
management and operations of multinational organisation
According to the view point of Jennifer Lombardo, 2020, globalisation create an
significant effects on management of functions and operations of an international organisation.
The biggest impact of globalisation is seen on supply chain management and technical
operation's of an organisation. The reason behind this is that globalisation has created better
opportunity to expand business operations across the various locations of world that has
increased the physical distance between various branches of an organisation thus, created impact
on supply chain management as more effective and vast supply chain network is required by
multinational organisation to manage supply of products in various nations (Hanson and et. al.,
2016). Apart from this, globalisation has also provide assess to more effective technology thus,
lead to an impact in business operations through making them more optimum and efficient
through use of new technology. It can also be evaluated that globalisation has created an impact
on management and operation's as organisation needs to make use of effective communication to
ensure proper coordination among all the branches and business operations spread across the
world. Globalisation has changed the decision making process of international organisation as
they are now making more use of decentralised decision making so that better efforts can be
made to improve their viability and success level in global market through fast decision making
process. Thus,it can be evaluated that globalisation has created an impact and influence on
management and operations of multinational organisation.

To identify the skills and competencies required in employees and managers of Bentley in order
to work efficiently at global level
According to Lotich P. 2019, competencies of managers is useful in improving the skills
of management as it influences the behaviours of others which put positive impact on the
performance of employees. For this, competencies defines the quality of being competent,
possession of required skills, knowledge and capacity. In relation with Bentley, they have
defined competencies that are required for the leadership team as it allows the company to
manage in consistent manner. In order to run business at global level, managers of Bentley must
have effective leadership abilities that are able to achieve success within the specific period of
time. For this, supervision is the essential skill which is required as employees and subordinates
need guidance and supervision which is useful for employees to boost their overall performance.
Moreover, communication skills are must as for this, managers must have good written and
verbal communication skills in order to effectively manager employees as it define the priority,
shared information and relevant information of employees (Common, 2017). For this, focused
leadership abilities and skills are useful in promoting better leadership as it is required at each
and every level of organisation. In addition to this, managing performance is a continuous
procedure as it involve ensuring that employees contribute their goals for their wider business
and their competencies included in their person specification. Lastly, efficient teams plays an
important role in order to work in collaborative manner as it helps in meeting the defined
objectives on specified period of time.
3. Research methodology
It represent a specific procedure or technique that is used by an investigator to effectively
identify, opt and determine the information regarding the topic (Michie, 2019). In this section,
this methodology allows the reader to evaluate study regarding the overall reliability and
validity.
Research Approach
Research Philosophy
It is considered as the most effective way in order to collect, determine and use data in an
appropriate manner. It is helpful in offering prominent concept and aim of having effective
knowledge about formulation and beliefs of regarding assumptions that relies on the real facts

and figures. For this, primary research include positivism and interpretivism and by examining
this research, positivism philosophy include in terms of Bentley as it is important to forecast
things and get desired outcomes. Use of positivism is made for current research as it facilitates a
more appropriate and scientific way for conducting a quantitative research.
Research Approach
This approach states the strategies and procedures that is helpful in determining and
interpreting acknowledged information. For this, overall decision of researcher is related with the
assumption of philosophy and related approaches which is useful in analysing and moving
forward the strategy (Brown, 2017). As this approach is mainly of two types that is deductive
and inductive and in terms of Bentley, deductive approach is selected in order to analyse the
factors of research as it is useful in developing and focusing on the gathered information and
concerned with the proposal of existing theory. Use of deductive approach is suitable for current
research as it ensures better generalisation and presentation of quantitative data.
Research Method
It is a strategic process that is helpful in collecting information and determining effective
information in order to develop effective understanding regarding the research in subjective
manner. It is also useful to execute and implement proper strategies in research procedure
(Singel and Mittal, 2016). This method is also of two types qualitative and quantitative and
according to this research, quantitative is opted for Bentley as it the systematic tool that is
helpful in collecting respective information in relation with charts, graphs and tables and also
helpful in taking effective decisions and justification concerning the goals of research. Use of
quantitative resrch method is made for current project as it lead to collection of data in numeric
form that can be easily presented and analysed in short period of time.
Sources of Data Collection
This methodology is useful in gathering data in terms of sample size which is helpful in
determining planning, understanding and collecting real facts and figures. For this, there are two
kinds of data collection first one is primary and other is secondary. By considering this research,
both primary and secondary methods are useful for Bentley in order to maintain the
dependability and research in an appropriate manner at the particular time. Primary data provides
first hand and authentic information while secondary ensures support and base for investigation.

stats and concerning information as it include opting specific number of units from the large
number of people in order to complete research in the most desired manner. As in relation with
research project random sampling is useful for concerning observations as it helps in collection
of information and data for the project and the size of sample is around 30 employees which is
selected among the stakeholders of Bentley which is considered by its employees and higher
authorities in order to understand the strategies in an efficient manner.
Data Analysis
In order to determine data, thematic methodology is opted as it is helpful in analysing
effective evaluation of collecting information and also put emphasis on the determination and
analysis of gathered information (Geppert, Matten and Williams, 2016).
Ethical Considerations
By considering this research, proper understanding of ethics are applied on time as it is
useful in taking effective and better decisions. It also offer proper guidelines which is concerned
with how the research is organised and also undertake the spectacular ethics which would not
