TOPIC:
What is the impact of globalisation on local transportation in London. A study on UBER.
INTRODUCTION
Globalisation refers to the process through which integration of people, group and
organisation is possible. Under globalisation, there is use of different strategies which assist in
making strategy for working in more tan one country. There are some legal aspects which has to
be followed by organisation, while they are working at international level. In order to make clear
understanding about rules and regulations, management of association has to hire legal expert
who provides knowledge about it (Brewster, Chung and Sparrow, 2016). There is positive impact
on business operations such as change in increment in sales, enhance consumer base, improving
brand image, etc. But there is negative impact as well because of change in consumer demand,
improper planning for finance, etc. So role of management of organisation is crucial.
This investigation is based on UBER which is American Multinational transportation
organisation. This association provides services to consumers such as cab ride in sharing, hiring
for outstation ride, bicycle sharing system and now they entered in food delivery services as
well. With enhancing operations at global level, it is essential to analyse changes in external
environment and competitors polices. In transportation sector, there are many organisation which
provides services, so this topic is relevant in current market.
While operating at different countries, there are different issues which organisation will
face. Issues such as change in legal barrier, more competition, change in technology, training of
employees. Workforce is the asset for UBER through which organisation can perform their
activities in better and effective manner. While implementing changes consent of employees is
much needed because they are the source through which consumer can be satisfied. Maintaining
sustainability at new market is possible by taking in consideration of feedback from consumers.
Rationale of research
Reason behind selecting this topic is investigator about impact of globalisation on local
transportation of London. This is interesting topic, so it is easy to collect primary data about it.
This assist reader to enhance their knowledge about impact on local transportation, change in
consumer preference and taste, etc. So this makes investigator aware about changes in working

Globalisation refers to the selling product and services across geographical boundaries. In
this context, there is use of different aspects such as legal policies, economic terms and

there is improvement in living standard, job employment, improvement in quality of services,

international level, there is requirement of regular market analysis which assist in improving
growth rate of UBER.
According to Crystal Ayres, 2019 there are some advantages as well as disadvantages of
globalisation for an association. Some advantages are- pooling of all resources, reduction in
labour exploitation skills, improves communication techniques, etc. While disadvantages are
reduction in social safety, change in political polices, improper consumption of resources,
negative impact on environment, etc. To get positive outcome, it is essential that managers of
UBER has to understand what changes they can make in their working style to improve working
efficiency.
Impact of globalisation on local transportation within London
There is positive impact of globalisation on local transport at London. Globalisation
refers to the process for operating in more than one country considering all legal aspects. As per
view of JUSTIN KUEPPER, 2019 there is economic development of UK in the form of taxes,
duties, foreign currency reserve, etc. which are specific and relevant for achieving business
targets. When external business organisations enter in London, then they requires local transport
for wandering here and there, so in this case there is earning and scope of growth for local
transport increase. This also gives employment opportunity to local people residing at London.
Local transport includes taxis, buses, metro trains, etc. This assist in social development
of London because there is development of infrastructure of society. When proper local transport
facilities are available for foreigners, then this gets improvement in image if specific place. With
globalisation, there is opportunity for operating at London as transport organisation which
improves services of local transport (Lasserre, 2017). With this there is increment in
competition and local transport services gets improved.
Different ways through which UBER can enhance its performance at global level
UBER is the American organisation which provides transportation services to consumer
of different countries because it operates in various parts of country. London is the country
which has different transportation organisation, so managers of UBER has to make different
strategies for growth and development. According to Bridget Miller, 2019 there are some
strategies for improving employees performance such as setting clear aims and objectives,
training of employees, etc. Employees is the main source through which performance of overall
UBER can be improved. Apart from this there is requirement of planning related to taking

sources of funds, planing for training of employees, etc. It is essential to for resources so
improper management does not happening at new land. For transport organisation UBER, it is
essential to train workforce regarding change in cultural values, ethics of consumers, so they can
prepare themselves for same culture. This assist inn providing satisfactory services to consumers
which leads to gain good image in industry (Leighton, 2016).
Challenges faced by UBER while expand their business operations in London
There are some challenges as well faced by UBER while operating at international level.
According to John M. Jordan, 2018, there is issue of digital technology such as GPS, mobile
technology, etc. UBER face while operating at international level. In case of expanding business
at international there are major issues of cultural difference and legal barriers. Apart from this
there are different risk such as risk to driver, language barrier, etc. to drivers which are serving
on the behalf of UBER. There are possibilities that driver does not have knowledge about
language of consumers, then this affects image of UBER and consumer do not prefer to avail
services from them. It is essential that driver must have knowledge about different pathways and
road ways so consumer does not feel uncomfortable. But it is not possible to have knowledge
about different it because of new market. So this is issue which affects consumers satisfaction.
GPS services has to be updated which is cost consuming approach. Sometimes, there are
possibilities that driver serving on the behalf of UBER have legal and crime related cases, so this
requires proper investigation about them (Los and. et. al., 2017).

Research method- There are two methods of conducting research i.e. qualitative and
quantitative research. Quantitative research method can be done with use of different
mathematical and scientific tools and techniques such as range, standard deviation, etc. While
qualitative research method can be understood with the help of graphs and charts. This also
provides justification behind specific view of respondents so this is more reliable (Manderscheid,
2016).
Data collection method- There are two methods through which information can be
collected because this is the way on the basis of which investigator can give justified outcomes.
There are two methods for collecting data i.e. primary and secondary source. Primary source is
collected from respondents and this is more relevant as compared to secondary source. While
secondary information is collected with the help of online sources, books, journals, etc. This is
the technique which assist in collecting brief over view about impact of globalisation on local
transport of London. In this study, both the techniques are used to collect data. This makes
investigation more authentic (Pike, Rodríguez-Pose and Tomaney, 2017).
For collecting primary information, questionnaire is used. Questionnaire is the technique
in which some questions related to impact of globalisation on local transport are asked. This
makes easy to collect views of respondents and make proper recommendations and conclusion
over it.
Sampling- Sampling is the method which is used to collect information from some
respondents. It is clear that it is not possible to collect views from whole population, so some
respondent are selected for collecting heir views this is known as sampling. There are different
methods of sampling i.e. random and non random sampling (McNess, Arthur and Crossley,
2015). Random sampling refers to the way under which there is equal possibilities of being
selected for each and every individual. So possibilities of biasses is nil so authentication and
correctness of data is more. 50 respondents are selected for this purpose. Targeted respondents
are employees of UBER and consumers.
Research ethics- While conducting investigation, there are some ethical aspects which
has to be considered such as confidentiality, informed consent which are considered. While
collecting primary information, consent of respondents is informed and so information is
collected with clarity and appropriateness. Information is kept confidential and identity of
respondents is kept private. This prompt them to give correct and relevant information.

TIMELINE OF RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
Time is the core aspect which has to be considered for collecting information and
conducting investigation. There are different activities such as introduction, setting aims and
objectives, literature review, etc. which assist in completing research by achieving aims and
objectives. So in order to complete research within reasonable time, there is requirement of
specific schedule which can be get through Gantt Chart. Gantt chart is the pictorial description
about different activities with horizontal and vertical lines. With the help of horizontal line, it is
easy to analyse time allotted to specific activity (Parente, Geleilate and Rong, 2018).
With use of Gantt chart, team mates perform their activities in synchronise manner
because they have knowledge about sequence of investigation. Team work will give better
outcome then investigation will complete on time achieving achieving aims and objectives.
