by entering in new markets and taking advantages of economies of scale. Globalisation means expanding
business in new countries in order to earn more profits and attract new customers. It brings various
opportunities and benefits for companies to enter in larger markets, access to capital flows, large export
market, selling goods and services at lower price, low cost of production, technological advancement,
increasing awareness among customers. However, on the other side Intriligator, M. (2017), highlighted that
there are various challenges faced by companies during globalisation which make difficult for them in
achieving business objectives. There are various external factors which affect companies are political,
economic, cultural, social, legal and environmental. Companies need to change their business operations,
marketing strategies, policies and procedures in order to overcome these challenges. It is difficult for
companies to adopt changes quickly and compete in the market with the existing companies.
According to Capobianco, Davies and Ennis, (2014) over past few years regulatory authorities prepare
rules and regulations for cross border business trade and cooperation. Across nations many agencies are open
which are liable to evaluate and regulate cross border business cooperation between firms. Such kind of
activities have reduced cross border cooperation between firms as it become now more complex now a day.
Thus, there is need of simplification of rules and regulations so that in more freedom environment firms can
operate at domestic and international level with in collaboration with foreign firms. The rules and regulations
has for the cross border business trade and cooperation. That create the safety as well as issues for business

Section 4: Research methodology
Research type: There are 2 types of research i.e. quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative data cannot
be used in this research because there is no numerical data. In the present report qualitative research type is
suitable because feelings, beliefs and human behaviour are required to find out the advantages and
disadvantages of globalisation with respect to retail sector (Mackey and Gass, 2015).
Research philosophy: It is way in which data for a particular phenomenon is gathered. Interpretism
and positivism are 2 types of research philosophy. According to the researched interpretism is the most
appropriate philosophy which will help in understanding the impact of globalisation on retail sector (Kumar,
2019).
Data collection: It is a process of gathering data from various sources such as primary and secondary.
In order to conduct the research researcher has used both the sources. Primary data is collected with the use of
questionnaire and secondary data is collected by journals, articles and books. Both the data collection method
will help researcher in highlighting the benefits and drawbacks of globalisation.
Sampling: It is a process of collecting data from a specific number of respondents. In the present
report non-probability sampling is used and data is collected by 30 managers of Morrison's via questionnaire.
Researcher will be beneficial in order to find out accurate result about the impact of globalisation on the
company (Flick, 2015).
