Introduction
The construction industry is one of the growing industries in market that are broadly
classified into three sectors such as infrastructure, industrial and buildings. The learning and
development of innovation and technology in construction industry helps people to gain
knowledge for building successful career and also they can identify the ways for keeping safe on
site. Through this project I have gained various knowledge and skills through which I can build
better career in construction industry. I have learnt from this module that there are few skills
which are required for working in construction industry in effective and efficient manner such as
communication skills, leadership skills, team work skills and understanding of construction rules
and regulations. The learning and development in construction industry is important as it helps in
improving the knowledge and skills of human resources within an organisation. I have also learnt
about the benefits which construction companies can gain through implementing innovation and
technology.
In this industry, innovation and technology plays an important role as it helps in
improving the performance and productivity of business. Through implementing innovation and
technology, company can manage construction site in sustainable and efficient manner. The
trends which are adopted by construction industry are construction robotics, building information
modeling and using advanced modeling materials (Silverio and et. al., 2017). Technology also
plays a significant role in construction industry as it helps in making construction site safer and
also makes employees more efficient. By implementing advanced technology within industry,
organisation can improve collaboration, increase productivity and also tackle the complex
projects in appropriate manner (Rowlinson, 2017). Innovation in construction industry helps in
identifying the potential safety hazards, social distancing infractions, missing PPE on workers
and working at height. The digital technology is also changing construction industry as
companies are focusing on adopting digital technologies such as laser scanning, augmented and
virtual reality, 3D printing, analytics software, digital twins, robotics and internet of things.
Thus, I have learnt that technology and innovation has affected the construction industry by
increasing the productivity and improving the profit margin of company.

Learning is important in this industry as it helps in enhancing the skills, abilities and
knowledge due to which better career objectives can be achieved. This module helps me to learn
about the role of technology and innovation within construction industry. By learning about the
advanced technology which can be used by companies, I have analysed that how business can
implement and improve its business performance. Through this module I have learnt about the
new things which help in improving the growth and performance of business. The new things
help me to enhance my growth mindset and also become more open to change. In this module,
the learning is important as it helps in increasing learning skills due to which I can contribute
more productive outcomes while working in construction industry.
