INTRODUCTION
Internet refers to the interconnection of different computer networks that can be used as
the internet protocol suite. It is a network that consists of private, public, academic and
government that is linked to electronic and optical network technology. It passes large number of
information from one device to another. Through internet communication become easy between
people as there are many sources which enhances the connectivity with internet such as mobile
phones, computer, tablet etc. As internet is becoming more common nowadays as each and every
individual is using internet for its own purpose. This report also include impact of internet on
university students in the 21st century. University students are more addicted to mobile phones so
that will destroy their career and is having great impact on it.

Internet is the connection of one computer to other computer with the help of server or
router. If two system are connected with each other through internet they will be able to receive
and transfer all type of information like videos, voice calls, graphics etc. Internet plays an
important role in transferring information from one person to another easily as if person is sitting
far away from it (Canale and et. al., 2016).As it makes life of the people simple as large number
of information is passes through different medium. It helps in making communication process
easy and simple and also makes professional relation with each and every person in the business.
The main aim of the internet is to provide easy access to data and communication.
Positive aspects of the internet
Internet is making things easier as to do research. As in earlier times when internet is not
there students or researchers shave to go library and have to do more research topics. As it will
become easy in browsing online through different internet sites. As internet helps in providing
more information at one time and always added new thing into it. Through internet nowadays
tickets can also be booked or it also facilitates booking of movie tickets from anywhere. It helps
easy communication with friends, family and relatives. As students who are living outside from
their home is talking to their parents daily and can be able to do online video calling to them. As
internet helps in sending pictures, videos and face to face commination as person who is sitting
away from it. It also facilitates as earning money from home as by filling online form or doing
freelancing work (Stoica, Mehdia and Sargu, 2015).As sellers and buyers can easily interact with

each other by paying through online applications like pay pal, paytm, google pay etc. As it is not
necessary to maintain physical store for selling product into the market it can be directly
purchased from the factory. As paying bill online, managing the accounts in the bank is common
nowadays. As it also facilitate notification on regular basis so that it is providing an ease to the
people. As internet also provides conferencing call so that it will help in saving travelling cost
and time of the managers and businessman. As they there is no need to meet them and having
face to face interaction with each other. As it makes possible at the time of accident that will help
in tracking the position where it will be held. As all the above are positive aspects of internet. As
these positive aspect will help in gaining more knowledge to the students of university.
Negative aspect of Internet
As internet is having negative impact on children, young adults. As children are more
addicted to internet and it will create a bad impact on them. It will create obesity among the
children that will affect their life in the future. As they are playing games on mobile phones as
they are not playing outside home (Laugesen, Hassanein and Yuan, 2015).Sometimes illegal
and inappropriate information is also available in the internet that will affect the life of the
students in university. As students are more addicted of using social media so it will create a bad
impact on their lives. As it also create cyberbullying among the students that is the illegal
activity that is being practised among the university students. As they are more addicted to
mobile phones so they even know the difference between the real people in the surroundings.
Social media is applying barrier between the real and virtual friends that are available on the
social media. As one of the major negative aspect of internet is pornography mostly the teenagers
are more addicted to it. As it will create many problems in marriages as people is having
addiction of meeting other people that will disturb marriage life as well. As some students is
doing illegal activities by seeing irrelevant information on it. As this is the largest problem on
internet every day as university students are facing. Some students are bunk their classes in the
university for playing games on internet that will have a bad impact on them.
There is a great impact of internet on university student in 21st century as students are
more addicted to play games, using social media application so there most of the time will be
consumed by internet. In 21st century university students wasting their time on using internet as it
is become an important part of their lives. Because of this they will not pay attention in their
studies and fail in the exam that will create greater impact on their career in the future.

University have to banned mobile phones in the premises that will reduce tension of getting
failed. Therefore, impact of internet on university students if gradually increases in 21st century.
Challenges and measures of security and privacy through internet
Challenges that is being faced during internet security are as follows
Verification of user identity:- As most of the work is done through internet so it is not sure that
the person who is available on the other is real or fake. It is necessary to check all the details of it
before doing any activity with it (Morley, Widdicks and Hazas, 2018). As nowadays its common
that through online services they take important information from the people and misuse that
information in the market. As sometimes students are affected from this type of illegal activity.
Prevention from system hacking:- As in university most of the software are being used in
computer labs so information is being hacked by the hacker. As it is important to protect the
information of students in the university. As if personal information is going out that will lead to
create problem for the students.
Protecting confidential data of user:- As nowadays more and more services are doing business
through internet. As it is the biggest challenge for safeguarding the confidential data of the user.
At the time of doing financial transaction it is important to protect the data of the users otherwise
it will create problem for the user in near future.
Securing web applications:- As it is another challenge for securing applications as many people
are using these applications and all of them is having access of it. It is important to secure the
website applications as some many people are using it so there are a chances of getting out
private information to other people.
Insufficient testing and updating:- As most of the companies are using different software that
need testing and updates on the regular basis. As there are many things available on the internet
and many applications need testing and updation time to time otherwise it will affect the working
of that device.
Mobile computing:- As universities allow mobile phones in the campus so they can easily
access to the information that is required for their studies. As internet is creating a greater
challenge for the people (Shestakova, 2019). There are more chances of getting information out
from the device.

Automation:- As adopting new technology is an important challenge as without proper
understanding of it person cannot be able to operate it and problem may occurred in between
using of the device.
Measures taking while using internet
Always updating soft wares:- It is necessary to update the latest version of that software so that
it will help in removing unwanted things from the computer. Updated version of the soft wares
will help in protecting data from the computers.
Unique and strong passwords:- Putting strong and unique passwords helps in protecting the
data from the computer or mobile phones. Passwords will be strong so that nobody can access
information from it.
Using antivirus: Installing antivirus in the computer will help in securing the data in it and
nobody can take the take for its own purpose. As antivirus helps in protecting computer from
malware or worms that enters through use of internet.
Surfing carefully:- While doing surfing it is necessary to be active so that nobody can hack your
passwords or identity and make misuse of it (Wegerif and et. al., 2017)Online surfing creates
more problem as person have to put its personal details on internet and there may be risk of
stolen that information so be careful while using internet.
Two step password:- It is not enough that choosing one password is enough so experts said that
for protecting data put two step passwords in your computer or gmail account. If anyone is trying
to access your account it will ask for password that mail is being forwarded to the owner of it.
As in 21st century the use of internet is increasing more and more so proper security and
privacy is to be taken to protect university students from cyberbullying. It is an illegal activity
that is mostly doing by students of harassing other people for the sake of their timepass.
CONCLUSION
From the above study it can be concluded that internet plays an important part in
everyday life. As internet is interconnection of different computers for the purpose of handling
online marketing. As internet is having both positive and negative aspect as one side internet is
useful for searching information easily on the other side it has negative aspect like cyberbullying
is the criminal offense for the society. From the above study it can be observed that internet plays
a crucial role in every aspect of life. However, internet is having a bad impact on university
