IMPACT OF IOT ON GAMBLING INDUSTRY
Part One- Research
Short description of the technology:
The aim of the report is to focus on the technology which is considered as the Internet
Of Things in this report. The Internet Of Things can be defined as the technology or the
system that relates the computing devices with the mechanical devices. The interrelation can
be defined as the relation and the connection between the software and computing devices,
digital machines, animals as well as humans which are customized with UIDs (Gubbi et al.,
2013). The UID is basically defined as the Unique Identifiers which creates the scope for the
technology to transfer the data by virtue of network systems with no interactions between the
human to human or computer to human.
There are various enterprises or sectors that are implementing the process of the IOT
for more convenient and easy operations that makes the process of decision making and
providing service to the consumer easy and genuine (Da Xu, He & Li, 2014). The Gambling
industry has also implemented the technology of the Internet Of Things in their working
structures so as to obtain higher level of business value.
Short description of the Industry:
The industry that has been selected for the assessment of the new technology
implementation is the gambling industry. The gambling industry consists of the Casinos,
betting, bingo halls, sport pools, amusement arcading machines in play-zones and lotteries.
The industry has faced a huge rise in gaining the popularity in the field of online gambling
and gaming format (Lee, Chung, & Bernhard, 2014).
The industry comprises of the betting industry mostly which is based on the on course
and the off course bookmakers. The particular kind of the industry is dominated by the
Ladbrokes, Corals, William Hill and Tote which comprises of more than 80% of the existing

betting shops. The Mecca Bingo and the Gala Bingo comprises over 43 % in the industry that
deals with the Bingo gambling (Porkodi & Bhuvaneswari, 2014). The most vulnerable
industry in the gambling industry comprises of the casino industry. It has been approximated
that there are 94600 workers employed in the gambling industry over more than 10000
gambling setups. The people that are employed in the gambling industry mainly work in the
posts of managers or work in the administrative departments. The implementation of the IOT
in this sector can decrease the rate of redundancy and will ease the way of operating the
sector even remotely through mobile gaming.
Part two- Brainstorming:
Impact of the technology on the people in the industry:
The research work done by many organizations have came up with the report which
has suggested that the activities in the working procedure of the organizations in the
gambling industry will be reduced from the human interactions to automated interactions and
working procedure by an approximation of 45% in the organizations (Liu et al., 2015). The
jobs and the duty structures that are not possible in the near future to change and get
automated are the only positions that are relying on the human workforce in this industry.
These working structures are the creativity, empathy, intuitiveness which are very often
observed and are considered in the working structure in any kind of the organization.
The people that will be mostly affected by the implementation of the IOT in such an
industry are the workers and the administrators in the organizations. The IOT creates a scope
for the management heads to keep the surveillance on the workers in such an organization
that solely deals and creates the business on money (Miller, 2014). The technology also
affects the people that are enjoying the service or the customers in such a gambling industry.
The IOT has created the scope for the customers to visit their favourite gambling games from

their own home through the direct interaction process that has been developed by the IOT
automation. The applications on the smart phone help the customers to visit the portal of the
casinos and play the games with trusted money transfer system (Yeung, 2017).
Drawing parallels to other industries where IOT have had impact:
The industry type that has been discussed in the report is the Gambling industries that
generally deal with the Casinos and Lottery based games and earning money from them. The
IOT has impacted largely on the Gambling industries which have changed the course of the
business structures within the specific industry working procedures. There are also parallel
industry types where the technology of the IOT has had impact on the system largely
(Morvannou et al., 2017). One of the most parallel industries that can be considered is the
Crypto Industry or also known as the Blockchain Industry.
The similarity or the parallel structures in both the Crypto Industries and the
Gambling industry that is based on the IOT, generally evaluates the attributes like the
security and potential of disrupting the business models in various industries. In both the
crypto industry and the gambling industry the most needed attribute gained by the sectors due
the implementation of the IOT is the security in the payment options and also security over
the system which is a decentralized system and creates scope for high usability (Lee et al.,
2014). The IOT helps in providing more transparency within the system and provides more
efficient processes.
Other technologies that might have a stronger combined impact:
The technologies like the Big Data technology have stronger combined impact like
the technology of the IOT or may have stronger impact together. The world generates 2.5
quintillion bytes data on an average per day. Leveraging the huge data collection often
reveals more transparent data insights which have the capability of changing the form of

business structure that the field currently works on. The data is stored and remains
fundamental to both the type of the technology. Both the technologies have different
attributes, but on combining both the differences of the technology the result of such a
combination can collectively help to gain more advantage on the business structures.
Part three – Regulation and Ethics:
Gambling is one of modern society's most contentious recreational operations.
Despite its wide popularity, gambling has had a number of adverse cultural and social effects.
In comparison to this, many destinations are aiming to legalize and expand gaming
companies, especially in times of increasing competition between tourism destinations, so as
to revive their shrinking economies. In the lead essay of the study, however, the tourism
bursary overly concentrated in relation to gambling studies on cost benefit analyses and the
attitudes of citizens towards gambling, while disregarding the essential philosophical
questions based on the Lawrence Lessig’s regulations Market, Law, Architecture
(Physical/Natural) and Norm (Social/Ethical).
The online gaming process which is a development in the sector of gambling industry
allows the people to sit back on the home and play their casino games in terms of money that
generally gets credited to the bank accounts of the players and this improved by the use of the
IOT on the gambling sector. The four different factors that make the initiative possible are as
follows:
The casinos have huge number of visitors where the players need to wait for
their turn in order to play their game which creates a lot of havoc for the
management as well as the visitors. By the implementation of the IOT in this
gambling sector, it will allow to reduce the human efforts in visiting the

casinos which gets decreased by the new online gaming technologies in the
sector.
The unethical practices like the betting on the games in casinos are identified
and stopped in this implementation.
The actual amount that the organization or the casino is dealing with is also
reflected to the government.
The application provides different facilities like it allows the players to notice
who is playing the game or what is the amount that the player is contributing
in the game.
The quality of the service that is necessary for the sector can be improved with
an addition of extra public dealing with those organizations.

marinating the electronic database are responsible for handling the
maintenance of the application. These are the actors for the certain technology
development.
Outcomes: the outcome results in the profitability of the application in the
gambling industry due to the use of the IOT in this sector.
The online application system has changed the whole industry that is related with the
gambling sector. The online application has been introduced with the help of the
implementation of the IOT systems. Besides the IOT systems, the course of the gambling
sector has also been changed within the organizations with the introduction of the gaming
machines and. In its broadest sense, the Internet of Things idea is designed to allow devices
to interact. This involves any equipment incorporated with parts of the electronics, sensors
and software. It allows people to collect data and to generate action by combining this
advanced equipment with automated systems. Some analytical businesses have forecast that
over 20 billion devices will be linked by 2020.

IMPACT OF IOT ON GAMBLING INDUSTRY
It can be observed that there is a huge disruption in the Gambling industry due to the
implementation of the IOT system. Generally people have to visit the lottery or casinos or the
gambling counters to play the bets. However, the potential impact of the IOT allows the
players to sit back at home and play from their smart phones all the smart games that allow
them to gamble and earn money online. The technology has also created a huge advancement
to the managing committees of the industry. The rate of error and theft has been put under
serious observation which has profited the organizations.
Considering a player sending a number 3 seed. It is now the turn of the casino to send
their seed. Since Casino is able to send its second seed, it can readily produce 1000 seeds on
its server and choose a seed best suited to its required result.
Or if the player doesn't manually allocate seed, casino can allocate seed on their own.
If players earn enormous amounts of cash, they can also stop payments. Technically, casinos
have the complete authority to control fairness or randomness to benefit.
Gaming operators already use analytics and application instruments to monitor
players and maintain them always interested and entertained. Loyalty programs have always
been able to attract players, while enabling the operators to maximize their profit by
providing them with rewards and incentives. The Internet of Things has several methods to
maximize and revolutionize online gaming. First, the gap between both the player and the
console must be bridged and, secondly, online platforms incorporated into the physical
casino.
