INTRODUCTION
Background to the study: Motivation is the process of stimulating, inspiring and encouraging
the human resources of an organization so that they can do more hard work in order to achieve
the objectives as well as goals of the organization. With the process of motivation, an
organization can maintain employee retention and engagement within the workplace. The
respective process results in strong stability in the manpower of the company. It also provides
assistance in developing the level of confidence among the employees of the organization as well
as improves the performance of work along with securing their loyalty and reducing their
absenteeism and labor turnover (Bushi, 2021). Motivation facilitates in improving the brand
image of organization and ultimately, captures the competent personalities within the workplace.
Within this presentation, there will be an investigation on the impact of motivation in the
workplace with a particular reference to Costa Coffee.

Rationale of the Study
The main reason behind choosing the topic of motivation is to give detailed information
regarding the respective topic as the process of motivation is becoming very popular and
effective in this modern era. It is because there are a lot of situations that occur within an
organization where the manpower of the company feels demotivated as well as restless. There
are sometimes situations that occur such as lower level of absenteeism, ineffective working
performance of the employees, ineffective customer service and many others (Jung-Gehling and

administrators of an organization foster the level of productivity within their human resources. It

person. It also helps in improving, stimulating as well as inducing the workforce that leads to
goal-oriented behavior. The concept of motivation is about the ways in which a business can
encourage its employees in order to give their best. The staff that gets motivated care about the
success of the organization as well as working better towards the attainment of the organizational
goals and objectives (Lares, Sosa-Fey and Worley, 2020). Motivation is the process that
facilitates in initiating, guiding as well as maintaining the goal-oriented behaviours. Motivation
theory is the study of gaining the understanding what drives an individual to perform its
functions towards a specific objective or goal. That is because a motivated manpower is more
productive and a more productive workforce is more effective as well as profitable. Motivation
will provide assistance to an individual in attaining its personal objectives as well as goals. In
case, if an individual gets motivated then it will have job satisfaction. The concept of motivation
will facilitate it in its personal development. A person would always gain by working in a
dynamic team and therefore will get motivated through developing self-confidence within itself

motivation. They are getting potential encouragement, identification and financial incentives and
motivation has enhanced the work performance, job satisfaction, patient satisfaction and job
attachment along with good team spirit.
